I know its hot and humid outside but...time for another 100 mile walk! Other distances are welcome.
Just so you know...
100 miles = 3.2 miles per day
50 miles = 1.6 miles per day
I keep track of my walking through http://www.mapmyrun.com/ , but you can also use a pedometer as well.
Anyone can join, and I'll try to get your goals posted as soon as possible. I am personally aiming for 100 again this month (I fell woefully short last month, but this one should be better!).
We've also had a request for pedometer users to have step goals instead of mile goals. If you want to do this just let me know your personal goal and I'll add it to our list. If you are trying to hit 10,000 steps a day, then I'll put your goal at 310,000 steps for August.
Post your mileage/steps whenever you like, and we'll support and motivate each other to keep it up! Good luck everyone!

With the heat and humidity of August, there's just no way to walk during the day at work so I'll have to set my sights a little lower than last month.

It would be the 'step-equivalent' of 250 miles, if my stride was steady... which will be a Great Challenge level to Achieve and Beat if I can. ![]()
I really want to average 20,000 a day, but canning might take some time this month, so I'll aim for 500,000 instead of 620,000... ![]()

Hi 2be. It's probably not as bad here (NYC) than in Mississippi, and if I didn't have to go back into the office after my lunch-time walks, then I'd keep at the high mileage. Walking into a meeting looking like I had just showered with my clothes on is not a good thing, for anyone.
Welcome back. Good luck with your half million steps. That sounds horribly daunting. I think I prefer 250 miles, though now that I write it, that sounds pretty bad too ![]()
Newbie here! I watched you all achieve your goals through the last half of July and told myself I would join if/when there was an August Challenge. Don't think I am ready for 100 so mark me down for 75 and I'll aim to beat it. Not much "walking" time left here in MN so I got to get it in while I can. Just had a baby three weeks ago so looking to walk off that extra baby weight. Do I get extra points for pushing the stroller? ![]()

oarsman - I agree with you about the outside walking thing - here in Atlanta the heat in August can easily make you look like you showered with your clothes on just be leaving the air conditioning

I'm also going to try to get through 15 sets of 10 clap-push-ups against the kitchen counter.
Yesterday, I walked two and a half miles. This morning, I did a set of 10 push-ups.

Out of curiosity, 2be, how does the half a million steps work for you? Do you have a pedometer? I was thinking about getting one, but prefer to track miles not steps. There are also GPS types of watches, but those seem like overkill.
