Aunt Flo & Weight Loss

Quote  |  Reply

Does anyone else have a hard time with their cravings and amount of food they eat that time of the month?

I feel like I could eat a HORSE.

In the last couple of months, I've been craving cheese the week before my 'week off'. I'm not supposed to eat it, but if its there I will, and lots of it and anything with melted cheese on... pizza especially. Otherwise I'll just add cheese to anything :(

I've kind f gotten into the habit of staying at uni all day (I travel in from home) that way, when I get home, I'm usually too tired to think about it.

I'm right there with you now.  Honestly, I'm insatiable.  Not matter what kind of food I eat or how much I just never feel full for a couple of days.  It's a true test of willpower.

Im not the only one with crazy cheese craving?!? This is music to my ears..

Strangely though-I am on the rag, and Im not experiencing those urges at all yet, and its already almost over! Come to think about it...I havent had any strange urges this week...hmm Has my will power become so strong that I need not think about it anymore? I could only hope haha.

I too get the extreme hunger the week before Aunt Flo visits.  I think our metabolisms have a bit of a cycle too 'cause even though I eat what should be "maintenance" for most of that week (and don't see losses at the time 'cause I'm retaining water), I get really nice drop-offs the week or two after Aunt Flo leaves.

tell me about it.

I just set a record today.

changed my mask to a frown.

Apparently when hormones are messed up things happen.

My game plan is to hopefully make most days perfect.

I'm keeping track.  I won't lie about it.  I'm tracking everything.

Maybe, I'll have a strategy for next time.

I do think the bulk of your diet day in and day out is what truly matters.

I get an A for that.

But wow this is really eye-opening.

I am looking forward in tracking my calories for a long period of time.

That way I can locate myself and try to improve.

Good Luck

Hmm...In short...YEEESSSS.

The week beforehand I go half mad.  For me, it's carbs.  I just can't get enough of them, and the sad thing is I'm never "full".  If I'm not careful I could just eat and eat and eat...

you are supposed to, one time I did not, and I tried to just eat like a normal human and i became ill.

it may have been a bug, but it lasted like, one day untill i ate half a pint of ice cream and a sandwich the next day

The week before I start my period, I am STARVING!!!  I eat so much and then gain 5 lbs.  A lot of that is water retention (Or so I tell myself).  And it takes two weeks to get back to normal.  Lucky for me my periods are 5 weeks apart.

I go through the same thing.  I LIVE FOR those 100 cal cadbury chocolate bars when its TOM.  They save me.  I eat at least 2 every month.  I also air pop about 10 bowls of popcorn. Which isnt too high cal unless you add butter/oil or something.  I just add cayenne pepper or something like that.

Yup, I'm with everyone here. I was eating jam out of the jar last night with a spoon because it was the only sugary thing in our house (luckily!).

Moesha23... 100 cal cadbury chocolate bars???? WHERE can I get these???? That's my favorite kind of chocolate!

I'm a salt fiend during TOM.  Before hand I tend to lose my appetite somewhat.  Today all I wanted was peanut butter/salt.  (not combined!).  I had a couple of mini reese pb cups, and ate my lunch and was okay...

Yell So help me!!! I am so glad to hear, others having this problem too. I try to be "maintaining", but have a hard time. What would usually fill me up, doesn't right now. And, I am loving peanut butter lately! I too, gain about 5# of my "water weight".  I say, I'm only @my normal weight, 2wks out of the month! Being a woman can suck so bad! I hate Uncle TOM and Aunt Flo! What can/should we do? Just accept it?   Any ideas???

i am the same way right before aunt flo arrives, and for the first day or so.

i read that right before mentsruation, your body is at its highest BMR - so, that would make sense . . . i also read that during you are losing some nutrients.

things to avoid are simple carbs and salt - the obvious and of course the things we crave also!

oh, and drink extra water

Frown IThanks! Is there any way to avoid those carbs and salt? I looove peanut butter...... What is BMR?

chocolate, chocolate, chocolate.

I am like a drug fiend where I can resist most of the day, but I will literally lay in bed during ttom and just crave it. I drink sugar-free nesquik with milk, and a couple squares of dark chocolate the whole week.

I have the same problem. My boyfriend usually knows when my time of the month is coming before I do by simply observing my eating patterns.

I'm really short on money now so I can't afford to eat more...trying to replace the need to eat beyond my regular three meals with green tea. I'll let you know if it works ;) Even if you do end up gaining weight, it usually comes off fairly quickly.
