Hi guys,
I was just wondering if anyone from Australia was familiar with any eating disorder IP treatments?
I have been IP at a ppublic hospital, and it was a horrible experience.
I know Australia does not have a great deal but does anyone know of anywhere/experiences??
thanks :)

where exactly are you? the only Ip i have visited... and unfortunatley is my back up if i can't go through with weight gain because i can't handle the stress (not because i fear eating) is the one in SA at Flinders. it isn't nice at all. it was complete horror walking in and complete relief to walk out on my visit. It was also motivation to do it on my own so i don't have to go back and actually experience IP and stay over night. If your in SA i suggest not going to IP unless it is your last resort.
What part of Australia? I'm in WA - the best place here is Hollywood hospital in Nedlands, I was unable to go here though because my insurance didnt cover me for it and it's quite expensive...i was really lucky though because i did my IP through a public hospital and it wasn't a bad experience at all compared to what i'v heard other people have, everyone was soooo lovely to me and i made some real friends!
thanks so much for replying (:
I am in NSW, so I did go to a public hosp. in Sydney for IP but it was traumatic. I recieved medical abuse from the staff, and they offered absolutely no support to my family who was 6 hours away, and only bothered to phone my mum and inform her of how i was going 2 WEEKS after id been there, although she was visiting me every weekend. I made some of the best friends there, but the treatment just did nothing-if anything, made me worse!
I don't mind where or the cost!
thanks again!!
Hey, I'm in Western Australia
I've been in Royal Perth hospital, Perth Clinic, Joondalup Hospital, Greylands Psych ward and Hollywood hospital. All horrible experiances, not worth traveling over for. Hollywood hospital is the only one with a proper Eating disorder Programme, groups and the like. But it is ultimately up to you. No hospital will get rid of your eating disorder. They can pump up your weight but only you can challenge and change your ED.
It's horribly hard but true- it's all in your hands. In my personal oppinion all hospitalisations for gaining weight are traumatic. All we can do is try to avoid being sectioned and have a tube forced upon us! Good luck let us know what you decide.
Love and rasberries, Kat xoxo
