Average bra size?

I was reading Woman's World, and one page, they said the average bra size in America was 34D. Is it just me, or does that seem a little crazy? 34D is supermodel proportions, not of the average woman. What do you guys think?

see i always thought being thin made your breasts look bigger

and that having big breasts keeps the eyes there and they never see the hips :)

that being said, when i wear my sports bra, i do look about 10 lbs thinner all over.

and really priceless, no offense at you saying we look fatter :-p (teasing!)

Ok, I know I'm gonna regret posting this but I recently had breast augmentation and before surgery I was a 34B and now I am a 36C/D depends on the brand. Anyhow, I realized that it was a lot easier to find bras when I was a 34B so I'm not sure if that means that all the big ones are taken or that the store doesnt order bigger sizes because they are uncommon. Most women I know are B cups some C cups but I would think that a B cup is more common than a D cup! Also, none of this makes me regret my decision to have surgery, I did a lot of research and I am very happy with the results! Plus, I also thought that bigger boobs would make me look fatter but they actualy make me look very porportioned because I have wide hips.

lilbory, I have the same problem finding bras. Large cups for relatively small band sizes are rare. And not always pretty. But I thought you had an advantage over women like me, I thought you didn't really need a bra when you have had surgery Isn't it right? Don't they stand up straight without help? Just curious :-)

yea they do, but I still need one to cover the "high beams" if you know what I mean, otherwise my boyfriend gets upset, lol.

XD No offense, I HIGHLY doubt that, unless you're included breast surgery, implantations, padded bras, etc.

No offense to people who have had breast augmentation, but you guys are the people who throw off the average. Does anyone here watch Dr. 90210? I do. One woman was on the show and she had DOUBLE F breasts. She's the type of person who makes the average so high.

juvarni, I cannot argue with that you are right. Plastic Surgery is becoming more and more common. At the time I decided to get my surgery, there was one girl in my class that had it done already and another girl that was having multiple procedures done shortly after me! Also, I'm like the 4th or 5th female in my family to have the surgery done.

Could it maybe have something to do with an increase of breast augmentations? By the way HI! im shannon! and im 36D

at all my weights, my bra size has been consistently 34DD.. even at 125 ,,,
i am 5'6''...

no surgery !! im 16!!!!!

I'm a 34 DD and at my heaviest was a 36 DD.

For some reason the darned things aren't shrinking with weight loss.  I'm down 35 lbs and going for another 35.  Anyone know a trick to losing frontal fat (belly and boob fat)?  :)  teehee

Yes, bras with big cups and small bands are expensive and hard to find.

I think a lot of companies are making bras smaller, like they do with vanity sizes in clothing, except the opposite (I.E. making bras run smaller so your cup size is bigger, and making pant sizes bigger so you can say you wear a four while you're really wearing an 8)....

I saw something on Oprah about women getting fitted for bras, and they were saying some of them, who looked a little better than flat were a size D!!!  Even Oprah was a little skeptical...

When I try on my size (34-36 DD, sometimes triple, on a fat day), at Victoria's secret, for example, there DD's don't even come close to fitting me!!! 

I really think they're doing the vanity size thing... Just a thought. 

Well I am a 32e and often find it really hard to find bras
I think its really important to be measured regularly while on this weight loss journey
I went from a 38c to a 32e and am expecting to change again as I loose a bit more weight

I have 34D's. Boo. I would like them if I was tall and thin but I am short and chubby. I can't wait till I lose some more weight so I can get re-measured and get some new cute bras.

I would love to get back to a "D" as well.  Right now I'm a 48DD.  I was a 38D when I graduated from high school and that would be great to be able to be that size again!!

Yeah, for a while I refused to believe that I was getting fat, but after popping out of my bras (36D) for so long, I got new ones and now I'm a 36DD!  I hope to get back into my 36C/D like I was in the beginning of college.

According to many other sources the average bra size has recently jumped from a 34B to a 36C because American's are getting fatter.  Shame on Woman's World for spreading such blasphemy and making women feel even more inadequate!  Actually, I'm shocked that anyone with a good pair of eyes would believe that crap.  Just look around...clearly the average woman is NOT a 34D. 

nope don't agree, 36 D. makes stomach look smaller. I was large for my size when weighed 100 lbs.
