Average bra size?

I was reading Woman's World, and one page, they said the average bra size in America was 34D. Is it just me, or does that seem a little crazy? 34D is supermodel proportions, not of the average woman. What do you guys think?

Models (catwalk type supermodel) are known to be tall, thin, and flat chested...unless I'm crazy???

a) they probably took the average rib-cage size, which turned out to be 34, and then the average cup size, which turned out to be D. So before you tweak out, check exactly how they came to that statistic.

b) I am 34 DD. Shout out to xgirl, writestuff, tat2ed, plume and tinker! =)

c) People who are around 34/36 with a cup size D and above usually don't 'look' it. Mainly because it is next to impossible to find a D+ bra sized at 34 inches, since they all usually start at 38, thank you very much, so we either squish our boobs into something smaller or sag them in something bigger which presses them against our chests as well. Also, being a 34 at 5'6 means I have a small frame, and being a DD means I have those birthin' genes. I am a fertility goddess. And biology class tells me that's what the males of the species are looking for, right?

d)I disagree with priceless and her boyfriend: My friends think big boobs on a small frame enhance the small frame. See below re:hourglass figure.

e) I have never had my breasts enhanced in any way. Except maybe by gaining/losing weight which....doesnt really change the cup-size, as much as I'm in denial and would love to buy a smaller bra on the thin days (and it's entirely possible that I bought two size-small old-navy bras which will never fit, god damn.)

f) regarding bras; I'm pretty sure they don't vanity size: Just like with shoes, different brands and styles fit different people differently. I am a different size at La Senza than I am with a Triumph bra, and I have never found a push-up bra which fits. The moral of the story: try it on before paying for it, duh.

g) I look forward to the day when hourglass-marilyn figures are back in. Yeah, shut up, Vogue. Even though magazines say it's sexy, they never seem to feature it in their advertisements...Jerks.

h) I love my breasts and so does every guy I've ever dated. So shout out to my own breasts.

i) Again, thanks for letting me know how un-average i am, and about my career prospects as a supermodel/pornstar/playboy pinup/whore. It's nice to have options, and it's uplifting in a whole back-handed kind of way... =)

I am wanting to get down to a size 36 DD at least!!

I'm short and recently got into 34D. I think it balances out my bubble butt. When I wear a sports bra, I feel like I look fatter because it turns my upper body into a tube-shape.

I read somewhere that the increase in the average size in bra size also has a lot to do with mor women getting breast implants. I have to agree with that. I have breast implants and so does half my family! I went from a 34A/B to a 36C/D.

I would have thought 34C was more average. 

I think it's also related to the brand - I don't know.  I also think 36C & 34D can be interchanged sometimes.

I wear a 34D at 5 feet tall, and it makes me feel disgusting. As much as it's hyped by the media, if you have it, it's often more awkward than worth it.

My breasts seem to have shrunk again recently.  Now when I measure myself, I'm a 34B.  I don't care much if my breasts get smaller, though, so long as I stay pretty well in proportion.

My 36-38 D interfer with my golf game. Always trying to put them somewhere so I can swing the club.

I'm 48 and wear a 36C/38B, depending on style.  I'm totally OK with not being big breasted. 

HA!  I can totally relate to the remark gypsierose made about the golf swing.  I'm on the smallish side up top and still tend to poke my elbow out to avoid swiping my left boob on my backswing!

I'm 5' and 34D and they make me look like a greyhound coz my stomach is pretty flat, they seem to stick out for miles. They are all people ever notice about me but at least they get you served faster at the bar!

Nope!  I don't beleive that either. 

I'm on the low end of the scale, wearing a 32B with some room to spare.  I had lost a little weight a few months ago (sadly gained it back) but I had a little too much wiggle room then in a B.

I don't want big boobs.  I would never wear a pushup bra.  I mean, some of my girlfriends have great big ones, and they love them and show them off a little in cute dresses and shirts.  But I don't want boobs ANY bigger than what mine are now.  I actually don't like having them much.... I don't wanna be flat, but they often make shirts fit weird on me and also, I DO think they make me look fatter.  But my boyfriends have always said my boobs are nice... so at least they have their approval.

Maybe I should just wear my sports bra all the time.  They look better in that.  :)

I'm so sad...I'm a 34 B :( It sucks!...and that's in a padded bra! My bum got all the natural padding I think...hahaha
