Avoiding the scale during your monthly lady time.
I usually check my progress on Fridays.
The last time I weighed myself during my "time" I nearly fainted from the 4 pound weight gain!!
I find myself dodging scales like they are demon-beasts until fun time is over.
I don't think I ever noticed the weight gain during my period until I started keeping track of everything through this site.
Anyone else fear the scale during your period?
Anyone have any suggestions on what to do about the bloating?
I dont get periods due to the BC im on, but the last few months ive noticed the awful bloating for 3-4 days which would appear to be part of my cycle still, had it last week and my weight didnt budge at all despite sticking to my plan.
Ive tried everything to stop the bloating but nothing seems to sto it unfortunatly!
I gain at least a few lbs during the curse. No scale for me
ya, im going through the same thing right now. about a 3-4 lb gain. i can tell its water though because i cant see any of the bones in my feet anymore, lol. hopefully, they'll come back in the next week or so....
I don't fear it and I still weigh in. It doesn't mkae me any less annoyed to see a 5lb gain though. Boo to being female for one week out of every month! haha
Same here, I weigh in on Fridays too, and after a 2 pound loss last week, I was looking forward to this week, but snuck an early peek this morning and was up 5 pounds from last week, AARRRGGGGG!!!!!! Hopefully, by next Friday, I'll be back on track, good luck to all of you in doing the same!!
I gain my water bloat weight before, so there's no avoiding for me. I don't mind it, it tells me that my week of horror is coming. What I don't like is that it comes on all at once, but leaves in half pounds.

yes!!!!!! Excactly! It'll appear overnight but then take a week to go away?? WTF!!
It's so funny that you posted this because "that time" started for me yesterday and almost instantly the day before, I went up almost 4 lbs!!! It happens every month, and I still get annoyed as if I don't know what it is. The good thing however, is as soon as it is over I drop like crazy! I lose whatever I gained during and an additional amount. I actually lose the most during "that time"
(edit: deleted post)
Yes, on one hand, the weight gain that you KNOW isn't really there can be a drag. On the other hand, doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy and accomplished to get on the scale in the middle of your cycle and still have lost two pounds since last week? Makes the annoying part worth it, to me!
I just started to notice the weight gain during my period, like in the last 2 months. Why do we gain weight during our periods?!
I never used to notice any gains during my period. Then last month...7 pounds in two days. I came unglued. I was so upset. This month I avoided the scale for a week.
Oh my this is so true!
I gain water weight for 10 - 14 days before me totm and it slowly comes off during and just after my totm, i have actually found that it will appear I am losing no weight at all for 3 weeks, even though I'm working really hard.
I get to the point where im going to give up/smash scales/drown myself in lard and BAM i drop 4pounds overnight. I just HATE being a girl sometimes!
I thnk maybe i should weight myself once a month! Just after, much less traumatic i feel!
uh-huh, just passed this. the day before yesterday was my 2nd, and when i weighed i was mind-paralysed for seconds by 3lbs gain. i jumped to my laptop rightaway and found some calming articles about it...although what they actually said was the bloating is pre-menstruation.
anyway, the pounds came right away! today i'm back to my usual 134. so no worries, the water weight will go off as quickly as they came...supposed to be.
I recently promised myself never to weigh or measure myself during that time of the month anymore. I usually see a gain in 1-3lbs and I gain atleast half an inch of bloat everywhere (I must say my boobs look rather nice and plumped up when I'm on my periods! lol). Just wait till Aunt Flow passes bfore you decide to step on the scale or whip out your measuring tape :)
No, I can't avoid the scale because I'm a MASOCHIST and I just have to do it. Arrrgh. Yep, 4 lbs gain is about right. And although my period is v. short, the 4 lbs doesn't drop back off until day 7 exactly, talk about punctual.
I also have a similar rise at ovulation time. Fun, fun. I still get on that scale and suffer through the vacillating roller coaster rise and fall of the numbers like the moron that i am. ![]()
Hahaha.
Awesome.
Feels good to know I'm not the only one pulling my hair out every month when this happens!
Thanks for sharing, ladies, I feel much better.
xoxo
