Go away period...

Not sure where to post this question.

I'm a 33 yr.old who is on BC pills- not for preventive measures, but for regulation.

I'm 5'10 and 164 lbs. While I am in the proper "range" for my height.. yada yada yada I'm not comfortable for myself. I had been the same weight for the last 20 yrs. and gained about 40lbs. in the last 3 yrs. or so. (No pregnancies to attribute any weight gain to.)

I've lost 9 lbs. in the last 4 weeks, and am extremely proud of myself, only the last 10 days I've been having bleeding issues (sorry for TMI)

I'm not due to start my monthly for another week, and right now it's not as heavy as my norm, but not light enough to be just spotting. I'm over it. Has anyone experienced something like this? I keep reading how people are missing their monthly cycles, but nothing about my problem.

Any insight would be fabulous!

Thanks,

Shannon

Did you miss a day or two of pills? I assume you've already considered that but the only time I had that problem was when I missed a day, and then I was blessed with two periods that month. Hooray!

Nope haven't missed any. I'm also not getting any cramps,  just the bleeding.

Breakthrough bleeding or spotting are listed as common side effects of BC pills. It can happen at any time you're taking the pills, whether you experienced it the previous month or any month before or not. And it may or may not happen again. It is less likely to happen ... or happen as often ... once you have been well-established on your pill. Some pills, however, have greater reported incidence of breakthrough bleeding ... usually those with lower hormones.

I've been on the pill w/ the exception of 2 pregnancies 12 and 6 yrs. ago for about 15 years.  So I'd say I'm pretty "established "

I brought up this question because for me, This is very irregular. I've actually been bleeding for 12 days- my DH and I counted back after I told him I posted this question.

I also noticed this happened to coincide w/ my weight loss/working out. I'm not one to really have blood clots and seem to be passing quite a few of those as well as bright red bleeding. I dunno. I will probably make a Drs. appt. just to appease myself.

I have been on Ortho Lo for about 2.5 years now and just in the last 6 months I've had breakthrough bleeding TWO WEEKS before Im supposed to get my period, each month.  So my period has been lasting 3.5 weeks for 6 months now.  Needless to say my boyfriend and I weren't pleased!  I NEVER miss a pill and have been on the pill for quite awhile.

I made a Dr's appointment and brought up the issue, and she tells me that this is completely normal, and that my body is just completely used to that level of hormone, and that stress etc could induce the breakthrough bleeding.  She switched my pill to Yaz and I just started taking it.  Too soon to tell if this will do the trick, but here's hoping.

Could this be a similar situation?
