going away for the week...
I'm going on vacation for 5 days sunday morning and I have no idea what I'm going to do about food. I'm taking a trip to Niagara Falls and Cedar Point with some family so we'll be eating out everyday. I'm a vegetarian, basically vegan for the most part. I was thinking about just bringing some protein bars and living off those and water, but it doesn't sound too appetizing.
Any suggestions?
Bring protein bars, and make some gorp (nuts, raisins, chocolate chips etc) and bring that with you. You should be able to always get a salad at least at restaurants, and bread as well. For fruit, see if your family will stop at a supermarket so you can pick up some apples (they travel well).

ok i'll try bringing some fruit with me along with the protein bars.

I just went on a week vacation with my omni family. I made a batch of quinoa vegetable salad (like pasta salad, but with quinoa) and put it in individual serving containers. I kept it in a cooler in the car and then had that when we stopped at fast food places on the way. I also had a lot of fruit, cut up veggies, hummus, whole grain crackers and peanut butter. I also brought some of Amy's cans of soup, but didn't end up using any. Good luck!
check out this site for vegan travelers. it gives you tips and restaurants that are veg friendly. http://www.happycow.net/north_america/usa/ind ex.html
peanut butter, rice cakes, apples (even dried apple slices), individual apple sauce cups, cans of beans/veg chili, all good ideas. good luck!
