AWESOME Black Bean vegan burgers!

Quote  |  Reply
I just made these, and I LOVED them! They could totally be a new favorite food for me. The recipie is pretty simple:

For one burger...

  • 1/2 cup black beans
  • 2 teaspoons panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons salsa
  • 1/8 tsp cumin
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp oats
  • 1 tsp whole wheat flour
  • a bit of water (if needed)
  • pinch of salt salt (optional)
Then just mash it all up together and cook it in a skillet! I cooked mine in half a teaspoon of olive oil for some EFAs, but you could probobly do without it as well!

sounds awesome! Thanks for posting the recipe for just ONE burger, because I always have to cut recipes as I only cook for myself.

I've been looking for a good black bean burger recipe - I'll try these this weekend.  Thanks!
You're all very welcome!

I also like to have a recipie for a single burger, because no one else in my family is vegetarian.
Thanks for the recipe, sounds delicious...Bet it would be really good with some salsa and avocado on top...and some potato wedges...MMM, sounds like dinner! :o)

I <3 black bean burgers.  Now if only it were easier to find whole wheat hamburger buns w/o the hfcs.

Pepperidge Farm deli flats are awesome!  I use the 7-grain version, but they also do 100% whole wheat.

great recipe, i am always experimenting with black bean burgers,i made an awsome one a few weeks ago with mushrooms and onions in it, similar spices to yours, and oats as well, and i added wheat germ...and i put some slivered almonds on top in the oven. it was quite a delicious little veggie/bean burger, but i am saving your recipe and must make it soon, along with your pancakes from your blog, i have been wanting to make them for a while now, but havent gotten around to it...they look so good and so healthy.

Just curious, but do you think these would be good with pinto beans instead of black beans? I have a long unused can of pinto beans that I've been trying to figure out what to do with :)

Oh yea!!! I think they usually use black bean since it sort of resembles a real burger after cooking but with seasoning, and everything else, the pinto bean burger mix will taste good! Good luck!
