How awful

Quote  |  Reply
...is it to eat very little today during the day so that I can "save" my calories to eat, drink and be merry tonight? I have dinner and a concert to go to and I just want to have a good time and not be obsessive like I alllllllways am. :/

The question is, how much will you be taking in tonight

i.e. your normal intake is 1600, but by the end of the day/night you'll have eaten 2400-3000

An event in my life was a bigg meeting where my normal calories was 1600, but after burning 400 in exercise I had a late breakfast/early lunch of 400, but then spent the 1600 on the dinner.  A "neutral" day but kept my sanity at the meal.

My opinion:  it isn't bad to save your calories for the evening.  However, I wouldn't recommend starving yourself during the day.  If you get to dinner and your other celebrations and your are extra-ordinarily hungry, you may over-due it and take in more calories than you realize.
I do that sometimes as well I'll just stick to some carrots and some milk maybe during the day and then enjoy a nice dinner, still staying in my calorie range though.

But make sure you don't overdo it at dinner cuz then eating little all day really doesn't make a diff.
Just make sure you're getting your total calories in for the day. :) And, try not to starve yourself until nighttime when you allow yourself to eat! If you're hungry, EAT.

I do this all the time, though, because I find I eat the most calories at night and it sort of pulls me through to the next evening.

Trying a low-cal but filling snack helps me. Fiber One cereal and raw almonds mixed, is very filling- and helps me drink my water, too! 1/2 cup +7 raw almonds= about 109 calories, and helps with fiber for heavy foods you might eat when you have something special! A 60 cal yogurt or other dairy choice is nice added in, too.

It is a 'Life-Style' for me... So fun needs to be planned in! Laughing

I'd eat normally and get some exercise to offset what you intend to drink.
My survival technique is to eat light all day and have a bowl of soup or some milk, with a 100 calorie balance bar before going to the event.  It takes the edge off the appetite and helps me control my portions.

I would still eat a light breakfast (Kashi Go Lean and unsweetened Almond Breeze) 160 calories ....

.... and a light lunch (one can of Progress Light soup and one slice of flax seed toast) 170 calories ....

.... and have a Yoplait fat free light yogurt (100 calories) as a snack .....

....AND THEN GO OUT FOR A SPLURGE DINNER (of up  to 1000-1400 calories).  If I went over that, I'd make up for it the next day through exercising and eating 200 calories less than normal.

But that's just me.

Thanks guys! I think I did okay. And ended up sweating alot of it off at the show, so I'm trying to not stress over it. :)
