B12 shots and weight loss????

So I was home this weekend and I saw my aunt who told me that her Doc has her on B12 shots for her hypothyroidism...she says that she is B12 deficent and they give her energy.  Now that I am home of course I had to google the shots and EVERYTHING I read is talking about B12 and weight loss.  Do Doc's really give out these shots for weight loss?  Seems extreme.

My friend told me she saw Fleetwood Mac all getting shot up with B12 before a concert one time and they said it was for energy...just curious what people here know about it???

I used to get the shots weekly from my doctor while under his care for weight loss.  I lost weight and felt great but could not live with his plan or his prices.  Now I am starting to use b12 patches because they are IMO better than the pills and cheaper than the shots.

Can you but the patches or do you have to have perscription for them?

You can buy them from the internet without a prescription or from a local retailer.  A friend of mine with a clinic sells them here.  They cost about $25.00 for 4 patches which is a months supply.

Years ago some of my family members were on a diet program where they got B12 shots (Nutrabolic program, I think) I believe some older people go to the the doctor specifically for that reason. I take a B-Complex everyday for potential energy -- it could be more psychological than anything but works for me! :) I had also heard it works for a hangover -- I told this to my ex-bf who thought it worked so great he told all of his friends (again, could be purely psychological, but hey ... !)

Bottom line, I don't think it's a miracle but I suppose it isn't going to cause any harm to try it.

My mom get's those shots because of her Hypothyroidism and she lost tons of weight.  And now has an extrememely fast metabolism come on she can eat 2 whole chocolate Halva's with not even .5 ounce of a gain.

They've helped me a great deal. I take them because my body has problems retaining B12, though.
