Just had baby #2 and trying to loose some weight

 Well I'm new to this site, just started a couple of weeks ago. Doing pretty good so far, seem to have lost an inch.  I've had a hard time finding a stable exercise routine, I started out doing some "hip hop abs" I found on you-tube, but then it was banned becuase of "copy writing" reasons.  Then I bought Yoga Booty Ballet, but returned it as they didn't even explain what to do or show you the routine first.  I recently just bought Carmen Electra's HIp HOp Dance/ Lap Dance, and its not very intense at all (the hip hop part) and I can't return that.  So I've been looking for an upbeat and energetic video, I found a "richard simmons" online at Future shop which looks like fun, I would love to get hip hop abs but it costs $100.00 canadian at the "as seen on t.v." stores, so needless to say I'm not willing to pay that:(  I have to young kids my son is 2.5 and my daughter is 4 months old, so its hard to just get up and go workout at the gym or go for a "brisk" walk.  Any suggestions/support/ friends would be great as I"m doing this alone (my husband is not doing this with me unfortunately :( even though I think it would be good for him) Also I'm nursing almost feels like 24/7 so I'm just wondering how many calories that burns? On my calorie counter it says I should be consuming 2550 calories per day that seems like a lot (maybe due to nursing becuase you need the extra calories? and supposed to burn 3000/day I don't know how to do that? anyways any help is appreciated THanks :)

Welcome to CC.  First things first, go to the tools area and enter your information and figure out roughly how many calories you burn in a day (~3,000 from your post, but you sound really uncertain about that).  While not 100% accurate, it is a very good guide and gives you a good starting point.  Then subtract 500 calories and you've got the right number to eat to lose ~1 lb per week.  See how you do on that, if you're losing more after a few weeks, then redo your calculations since things do change periodically.  If you're losing less, then try cutting another 100-200 calories out and see how your body responds.

I highly recommend reading the welcome and "stickied" posts at the top of each forum.  They have some great information and a brief intro by the volunteer moderators.  I believe that in weight loss is the CC diet which is a great place to start with a lot of information.

Then post away with your questions or respond to other people's posts.

Did you know that you do not need to exercise to lose weight?  Your body burns calories all on it's own just maintaining your body.  Exercise is recommended for improving your health and giving you a higher calorie allowance and it really can make you feel better, but don't get down on yourself for not doing formal exercise.  Chasing around after 2 kids also burns calories even though it's not a formal method of exercise.

Hey meagang!

Nice to see someone on here with similar issues as mine.  I just had baby #3.  He will be 6 wks tomorrow.  I have 3 boys.  Like you I am in this alone as much as I would love my husband to join in!  I have a really up beat, well instructed video I like...Turbo Jam.  Looks kind of goofy at first but I decided to order it and try it.  It really is fun once you get going.  I cant remember but I think it was only 30$ ( I ordered it probably because I was just certain I would loose weightWink

I am also nursing and to answer your question, that burns 500 cal per day.  You should actually only consume the same as when pregnant (only 300 extra cal) 

I have been looking for a "buddy" on here and so far have only gotten an email from someone selling herbalife.

Well Congrats on #3! I received that same msg. as you from "herbal life" haha funny, some promotion maybe? I would love to have a buddy.  Where are you living I'm in Canada.  How old are your children?  How long have you been on the "diet" for?? its been 2 weeks for me :)

I added yout omy list last night. Just getting around to posting today. I am a mom of 5. very busy at my house. I take in (what I call strays) the extra kids int he neighborhood. so sometimes my house is so full it looks like it will burst 8-15 kids is normal. *G*...

I lost myself in being a mom and have been workinging to regain my health and body. I can't be there for them the way I was. have lost 43.6 so far and have about 55 more to go. I have been doing this now for 13 weeks. Best change I have ever made. well there is a little about me. always up for someone new to keep me with a level head and to help encorage them and myself.

Keep smilin' this life style change is more than worth it. I have diabeties. gained from the last pregnancy, diagnosed 4 years ago, that has been able to be diet controlled for the last 11 weeks. YEAH ME. so. feel free to check out my profile ect.
