Back dimples (or otherwise known as "Dimples of Venus") and weight loss.

No, I'm not talking about cellulite. Does anyone notice their back dimples to get more prominent as you get thinner? Either I was completely unaware of back dimples when I was heavier, therefore I didn't notice them.. or they appear more when you're thinner. Anyone else have back dimples?

i have them and they are pretty deep and my husband says that when i was thinner and heavier there was no difference as far as he noticed - i never paid attention myself ...
Love the back dimples. Right above your butt, on either side of your spine? I think they are one of the prettiest parts of a woman's back.

My best male friend calls those 'thumbprints.' He thinks they're very sexy, so you go with your Dimples of Venus! Laughing

I notice the same thing.  Maybe I never paid attention, but I honestly think I just had too much fat or something.  Now they're there, though.  What even causes them, anyway?  I think they're...weird.  Not bad, just strange!

I've never had them, even at 120 lbs....I think I have just have too much padding there, lol. Anyway, if I remember my anatomy classes right, they're caused by the Superior Posterior Iliac Spine. An attatchment point for gluteal muscles..... but don't quote me!

i want them more than anything!

what exercises can u do to develop that muscle??

I found out I actually had 'em about five pounds ago.  I was all, OMFG ALEX I BROKE SOMETHING!  He calmly explained to me tha was normal to have back there and I never knew about it before because I had a huge hoagie-sized roll of fat there at one point.

Now I'm all squee and lie in the bath tub and try to see if I can make little puddles of water in 'em.

I don't have them!!!! It's weeeeirddd.

I'm ABNORMAL!!! haaaa. jk.... but srsly i dont have them

I looove back dimples, hahah. I've always complained that I didn't have any, but the other day I was walking through the living room in my sweats and sports bra and suddenly my mom goes "ZOMG you DO have back dimples!" :D

I haven't really lost any weight, though. Maybe since I've been doing more pilates my back/tummy/glutes area is more toned so they are more visible? Mine are very faint but I'm so happy they're at least a little there hehe (:

i have little bony things jutting out of my back somewhere above my butt. so yes? i think those are back dimples.

back dimples are genetic and run in families....kinda like what color hair you have

they can not be CREATED by doing anything. If you already have them then you can make them stand out more, but if you dont have them then you dont have them. Nobody in my family has them.

those of you who do, see if any family members also have them...

I've never had any, even at 90 lbs.  Do people lihe having them?  I never really thought much about it but my sister and mom do have them.

Honestly I just think they're really cute. Like face dimples are cute, I feel the same way about back dimples. Love 'em.

I love mine :P I've had them since I was ridiculously young... Some of my earliest memories are of my mom giving me a bath and poking them while drying me. I must say, I like "Dimples of Venus" better than plain old back dimples! and here is a picture to back dimple pride! Caroline Trentini!

I never had them when I was thinner, and was a bit disappointed. They became more noticeable after I had gained and then lost weight, when I started exercising more.
all my guy friends think they are the sexiest thing. aren't they basically just the back part of your hip bone?

i too noticed them as i lost weight. i was always jealous of my thin ballerina friends who had them when i was overweight. it seems logical to conclude that the reason for their arrival is simply because the fat mass around the dimples have magically disappeared! i think they're cute :)
Yeah I was once jealous of people who had them because I think they can have an attractive appeal. Never saw them until I looked in this one particular mirror ( I had also lost some weight) and voila! they were there.

haha, I'm glad they're so popular! I've only noticed them recently, so I'm not that sure if I had them when I was smaller, or heavier for that matter.

i've never had them, even when I was thin. I think it has alot to do with back muscles as well.. I think they're hot. lol

i didn't have them when i was thinner. but then i gained some weight, so i started exercising more, and thats when they became more prominent. i think it was all of the yoga and pilates.
