Back to school/college/uni...

Does anyone else find it exceptionally hard to eat healthily and exercise when they're at school?

My easter break ends tomorrow and I go back to school and I know that I am going to find it much harder to exercise and to eat healthily whilst I'm at school.

Stupid things such as getting hungry at breaktime because I'm up earlier and there only being unhealthy options in the canteen, things such as going home for my dinner and cooking something quick - which tends to be high calorie foods, being too tired to work out properly etc.

Uck, I'm gonna need luck. :]

When I was going to school it was very difficult to exercise and eat right.  Exercising was not a top priority.  I was worried about classes and lots of other things.  I tried going to the gym on campus, but it only happened mabye 1-2 times a week.

To give you some motivation, if you make it a goal to do some exervise 4-5 times a week you can do it.  Schedule it into your day.  Go no matter what.  It will get easier as you as you make it a habit.  You can get healthy.

Good luck in school and getting healthy.
I completely sympathize with you k8iemay, I'm in my second year of college, and the dorm cafeterias do not help people on a diet, the food is greasy, you never know exactly how it is prepared, and even the "healthy" options are questionable.  I found that stocking my refridgerator in my dorm room with fruit and my pantry with wheat bread and things for healty sandwhiches help out a lot.  That way I can eat lunch in my room instead of having to eat the crap in the caf.

The only good thing I find about being at my school is that gym membership is free for students, but I think most schools are like that.

I'm sure you'll be fine though, after being back for a little while I'm sure you will be able to get yourself back into a healty schedule
I like school... lol It keeps me away from bad food... The only restaurant on campus is Subway... lol Yay for small community colleges
But if you're concentrated on that whole learning thing you won't think about school, and you'll have no oppurtunity to eat x)
I find it hard to fit in exersise, between school and work. Especially right now because its finals and i just feel the pressure to study more and more rather than exersise. I live about 10 mins from my college which is good at least i get some walking in a day. As for healthy choices, my campus is actually pretty good. THey have a salad bar/fruit bar, and a lot of good choics. But they also have free BBQ hamburger day or pork day, and theres a burger king, tim hortons, subway and funky pickle pizza.

I'm quite the opposite. I find school gives me a schedule to follow and when I am on break everything is disrupted and its hard to get into a groove. On holidays it gets even worse because my mom and my boyfriend's mom both like to show their affection through food. SO everytime I visit I am offered sweets every 5 minutes.

I keep lots of healthy foods around and bring an extra apple or something to school in case i get hungry between meals. That way, I can avoid the cafe and their 400 calorie muffins
I have come to the realization that life isn't going to get any easier. I am a senior and attending grad school in January. I still work 30 hours a week while taking a full load. When I saw that I kept packing on the pounds and putting off the gym because of the million excuses ( i have to study, im tired, i have to clean.. blah blah blah ) I decided things need to change. Going to the gym needs to be a priority and shouldn't be a chore. I now make time in my schedule to go ( Why not take advantage of the FREE gym ). Because once we get degrees and work full work weeks, its not like this magical gym time is going to pop up to ho! You have to make time for it, and in the end it will pay off!
haha...that's so true...i have no idea what i'm going to do when I graduate and the free and easily accesible gym isn't right at my fingertips
