Back on Track! DAY 1- DAY 60 WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE Nov 1- Dec 30 ALWAYS OPEN 4 U 2 JOIN.
Hello!
Lynn here, and I would like to get a new group started.. I've already started a group back in August, and a lot of us has lost touch. A few of us is still around, but I am looking for a group of people who is ready and willing to challenge there will power.
I know most of us are here to lose weight, and many of us can't get fitness in.. So portion control is the main key in this group. Many of us can't get on board with exercise due to heavy work loads, and personal medical problems.
I would like to reach out to those who is trying to gain control of there eating habits and fitness levels. If you can't do the fitness program.. I'm here to say. It's okay. Just join in, and eat well and do your all time best. It's not all about exercise.. It's also about eating right, and you don't have to sweat like hell to get a few pounds moving either.. We all have learn that from watching this season biggest loser. For those of you who don't know.. A woman on the show had to sit out and not workout until she got the okay from the doctor.. And she did lose weight.. Just by eating healthy alone.
Anyway! My tips are plan and simple, and each one of us can do them.. It's simple.. We will get into the fitness part of this later on.. But as of now... Here is what you do..
Post your name, weight, and how many pounds you wish to lose in 60 days.
Now then, every Sunday night.. I will post fitness minutes for the week. You don't have to hit them on the mark, and you can over do these minutes.. You don't have to stay in range with me at all.. If you can do more.. Go for it. I know I would if I have the room to do more.
In these fitness minutes.. You will have a set of minutes for weights, resistance training, or strenght training. You will also have carido minutes.. You will have enough time for days off.. I might even toss a push ups, squats, jumping jacks, lunges, leg raises, jump rope or crunches in the mix. These will be extra adds to see how fit you are, and how many you can do.. Just to challenge yourself to do more. I'm a back slider and I am trying to get back on track... And I am willing to reach down and give a helping hand to those who needs the extra support and push.. I know I need it..
I will be happy to have any of you on board with me..
Welcome to the group...
Let's get this started..
Day 1 starts Nov 1st
Day 2 starts Nov 2nd Weigh ins...
When you start this group.. Please give your starting weight with every weigh in.. There might be some change during your start.. You might get starts as soon as you read this post.. If you aren't already on board with working hard to a better healthier you..
On Mondays, we will weigh in.. Report weight, and pounds lost.

So how is everyone doing. I am really going to have to watch my soduim intake on those days where I do too much. I crave chips for a quick fix on those days, and think. Since I've done do much I can have them, and I do have them from time to time. I just have to be careful with that soduim. Thats pretty much it. The scales was kinda high on the water weight because of it, and I tought it was the TOM knocking on the door, and that's about 4 days away.
So, how is every one doing? I know it's kinda late for asking, but I just got up. Saw the pc on, and logged on to chat and report in.
I finally managed to get abt 1277 cal in yesterday but not all were the healthy kind (think pretzels and M&Ms ...yikes!). My "revived" batteries are DEAD. The scale didn't even turn on this morning. Oh well.
And I'm having such a hard time staying motivated to write...ugh
Ref the burn meter: it contains your BMR + activities; all these numbers are estimates though and in many cases the calculations won't get you anywhere. Some ppl burn way less than the BMR assumes while for others it's just the opposite.
I lost on 1000-1200 cal wt/out exercise and 1300-1400 cal wt burning 1000 cal a week. I am small to begin with (5'2", 127-128 lbs I guess) and I don't exactly burn a ton of cals when i work out. The smaller you are, the harder to burn many cals...of course.
Cris, You hit it dead on the money. The smaller you are the harder it is to get a high burn. I, myself, is one of those 5'0 people with loads of mucsle, and a great deal of fat wrapping them. I have to really go into a pod to get my true BMI, because I can't use these crazy charts or systems they have on line. Most doctors are shocked when they see my pod reports. It's good to got to a weight loss center and pay the 200-300 dollars out of pocket to get your true BMI and what your burn rate is when you are active.
I have done this. I did it before I started to lose weight, and then 6 months later.. My BMI was 37 at 226 and then it changed to 27 at 150 and now it's 30 at 177. I had another test done weeks ago, when my weight started to spike out of control in my book, and I went for the extra help to get myself on track.
You can feed the body 1600 calories of good food that feeds your needs, and lose weight really good. I do go into high and low burns.. It depends on how activite I am. I lost a whole lot of weight at first on a 1200-1400 weight loss system in 2007-2008, and then it all hit the wall. Stress and not sticking to the rules and guide lines of my program and diet. So my program had to be re written. Because of the extra muscle mass I now carry, and on top of that. I do burn less than before. It's a battle, and I am always willing to take it on. I'm on a mixture of vitamins. And those vitamins are the extra things my body was lacking in a blood test that was done. I was lacking in B6 and B12, and vitamin A and K. Feeling the hits of low enegry drove me to get this blood work done. On top of that. I wasn't eating enough food to support the vitamins I need. So A good complex vitamin will help one with weight loss as well.
If you can afford the test. Go out and get some blood work done, and a pod BMI reading. It's worth it.
Current Weight:

Lynn,
Thanks for sharing. I know how hard it is to fight weight sensibly.
I did not do well yesterday. Did 8 full hours of clinical. Did take my lunch, but never got to the gym last night. Fell into bed at 8 and was sound asleep. Am headed outside to walk. Today is a beautiful day in Dallas and I really want to get out and enjoy it. Will touch base later today.

I'm staying on track - 162 this morning, looks like I really have broken my 163/164 plateau.
No exercise yesterday, too tired so decided it would be my day off. Plan on kicking butt the next 3 days :)
I hope everyone has a great weekend - stay on track!
I am trying really hard to stay being good. I just wait for Sundays weigh in....fingers crossed for everyone ![]()
So excited, I need something to keep me motivated!
11/6: 128
Goal: Lose 8-10 pounds by 2010.
My daily calorie goal is about 1500 calories but I eat more if I work out.
I go to the gym 3-4 times a week plus yoga on Tuesdays.
I'm leaving this group bc I just don't fit in here. This is more of an exercise group and all. And I just can not exercise anymore. My legs are gving out on me. Having a tough time right now. So much pain to deal with! :(
I wish you all luck!
Tammy
I haven't had the best day today. Numbers make my head spin! I'm REALLY really trying to get the hang of the calories in calories out thing but I'm just not getting it...maybe I'm looking at it to hard..thinking it's more than what it really is. Grr!
I haven't had much motivation today either. Usually my fiance and i work out together and he said he was too tired today. So instead of being independent, I caved and said fine I'm not going to workout either. Some days I really think that he doesn't want me to lose weight and that's why he does that. I guess I need to just get my **** together and do it by myself and not let anyone else affect me. I want this weight loss for ME, no one else! So with that being said, I am going to go and workout to a dvd.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Tiffany
It's okay Tammy, but you don't have to leave us. You can drop in once a week and weigh in with us. You know it's not all about exercise, and eating right is the most important key here, but I do understand where you are coming from, and I wish you well, and I will keep in touch with you. You know all the places you can find me.. U, yella, cris, the 3 of you have been my closets friends.. AJ.. I don't know where she is at. I need to send her a PM, but most of all. You 3 have been right by my side since 2009. I love the 3 of you for that. Being my life line when I need it and support system. I'm never going to leave your side.. I will always be around..
Lynn..
We are all in this together, and we will never give up, or turn back. Forward is where we move to.. Forward!

BMR: 1910
Calories:1635
Fat%: 72.5
Deficit:275
Fitness Mins: 30 mins of weight training again. Arms, back, and legs. I took a much needed rest from the abs. I did 400 crunches the other day, and I needed a rest. I did 200 leg presses with the added weight. Pretty good!
I just had too much of the wrong foods.. I had taco bell.
Tiffany maybe you are looking at it too hard, but it truly can be tricky to figure out at 1st. I've never tried to explain it before but I hope this helps :)
#1 is to determine your Daily Burn in the tools section - and whether you set it at sedentary, active or whatever is up to you using the data it gives you. Personally I set mine at Sedentary and then add in all my exercises. Others prefer to set it at moderate and only log major exercise.
#2 Then you start eating less than than that burn # and you also start burning calories however you'd like (jogging, swimming, dancing, housework, walking the dog, tickling your kids, whatever.) Or you can eat your entire burn # and do a lot of exercise to burn calories. Or you could just do the eating less calories part and skip doing anything that would burn any extra calories. (Diet + Exercise / Diet alone / Exercise alone)
#3 You then do the math :
My Daily Sedentary Burn + My Exercise Burn = X
X - My Total Calories Eaten = My Total Daily Deficit
Using myself as an example today:
1700 + 270 = 1970 (X)
(X)1970 - 1350 = 620
so 620 is my total deficit today
Total deficit should never be higher than 1000 - best if kept at between 500-750. A 3500 deficit should give you a one pound loss - so 500 daily deficit for 7 days means 1 pound is gone!

We all have those days. When it's hard to get into the drive. I know those days. I know them all to well. I remember a time when I would wait on my girl friends, and some of them would go and do it with me, and some of them would not. One day. Non of them came out with me, and I didn't go. It happen again.. I didn't go, and then it happen again. I notice, I had gained 4 pounds of the 19 pounds I had lost back, and I was more upset at my friends for not coming, than I was at myself. What, I guess I am trying to say here is this. Find your little drive, and work on doing you. I know your finace means well. Mines does too, and he likes me at this size and don't care about all the diet and exercise stuff I do or invest in, but he does support it. He just don't get into all that going with me and stuff. Things are going to pain out, and you will get use to the burn factor.
Mama said it all too well. Just go in and set your setting to how active you was during that day, and go from there.. I always say. If you are going to have a heavy work load. Eat a few 100 more calories.. Sedentary, Moderate, Light Active, and Very Active. Set your setting daily to your work load level, and go from there. That's how I do it, but I use my MIO watch. It helps out a lot. You can go to wal mart and get one. 45 dollars top. Here in alabama.. Just go to wal mart.com and look for one of those heart rate calories monitors. It will help you out a lot. The only thing it don't tell you is how many calories you ate. You have to keep up with that, and then at the end of the day.. Subtract your calories you ate from the calories you burned, and you will get your deficit.
I hope all the information you got here from us helped you out today.

my doctor refuses to refer me to any tests related to body fat or BMR. I asked her to refer me to a professional to get a body fat test (i don't like the bio impedance thing) and she said i'm too slim to be considered (my BMI is little over 23).
it's time for my annual check up and i'll probably be brave enough to request a longer list of blood tests (as in vitamins). i get tired easily and my appetite is quite low lately.
And the BMR tests are done in specialized sports clinics and we don't have any in our town anyway. So that's definitely not possible or affordable.
I did want to get a HRM at some point but the only ones I saw were over $300. that's NOT in my price range LOL
Hello All,
I have done very well yesterday and so far today. Yester day I worked out for 93 min; today I worked out 85 minutes. Yesterday I had a 300 calorie deficit. I try not to peek at the scale, but I am peeking. The weight is going down. I am looking forward to weighing next week.
For those of you discouraged about the exercise, don't be. We have to talk about something. Not much to say about the calorie deficits--either I achieve it or not. There is not much else there. However, when my endurance inproves, when I lift more weight, whatever the goal achieved, I want to talk about it. Same thing when I don't meet up to standards; I need to talk about it.
For those of you exhausted and hurting: slow down. Take a day off. Do pilates or yoga. You don't have to (or want to ) bust your butt every day.
See you all tomorrow.

Lynn's Report![]()
BMR: 2014
Calories: 1798
Fat%: 61.5
Deficit:216
Fitness: 2 mile elliptical
I'm not feeling my best, and TOM is early or should I say, on time for once. I thought the date had moved, because I was really late last month. My weight went up. I know it's water weight. I'm still not bloated, but it's coming. I normally don't workout on weekends, but I did find time to go into the gym and talk to one of the trainer and get on the elliptical. She just told me to do more cardio next week, and get those 20 to 30 mins of toning in early in the morning or late at night to get those muscle on fire to burn some extra fat. She told me to keep on training, if I lose weight or not. I'm getting stronger again, and in time. My body is going to start dropping weight like nothings. It's going to happen.
Cris, My doctor had me do the pod test, because he was not going to go by the charts they have set for us. He was not going to place me at Obese at the time, because of these charts. He looked at my height, and I am short as hell. I feel doctors should do what you ask of them.
Lynn,
I am right with you. I keep waiting to start and feel really sluggish today. TTOM is due any time now, plus I woke up with a really sore throat. I will sweat through it today and see what happens.
Did good yesterday until supper. My husband made homemade hamburgers (the really good kind). They were broiled, but he also made oven french fries. Though they are only 118 cal per serving, we ate 2 servings each. Then wine with the OU game threw my calories over the edge. Here is this week's report:
SW (11/1): 149.8
CW (11/8): 148.6
Goal weight loss for the week: 1 lb
Actual weight loss for the week: 1.2 lbs
Fitness minutes for the week: 439
I have hovered around 148.6 all week. I am a little disappointed with myself for not sticking with the eating plan. In evaluating myself for the week, my exercise is mostly cardio. I walk and elliptical a lot, but am really lame on the weights. I don't know why I don't get into the weights; in past weight loss plans, I have done amazing lifing free weights. Somehow, as I age, I just don't enjoy it as much. The challenge isn't the same. (I am making excuses, aren't I?--it's OK, you can kick my a** to get me in gear and I won't take offense.)
Week 2 goal: 1 lb weight loss, 300 cardio minutes, weights 3 times this week, and a documented 1000 cal deficit

and that's gonna happen on state-paid health insurance? HUH!
there are exactly 5 free blood tests per year and none involve body fat testing or other similar things. which is crap, especially in a country where obesity is a problem starting wt the young kids *sigh*
at my HW i was 1 lb into obese so probably i wasn't "extreme" enough to worry anyone. luckily, my BP was always good so, again, no one was worried that was i actually fat.
Why can athletes eat so much?
Athletes need adequate calories to offset those they burn in training and competition. They eat to either maintain their body mass or gain muscle... Read more
