Do you go to the gym when you have a cold? I'm taking OTC stuff but feel crummy...do I force myself or modify routine?
MODIFY! Rest and lots of fluids! Your body needs time to repair itself. Over taxing it by working out often prolongs your illness. When you begin to feel a bit better, begin slowly your first day back. If you feel good after instead of worn down then you know know its time to get back into your gym routine!!

No way!
1. You need to rest and recover.
2. You don't want to spread whatever you have. It could turn out to be something for than just a cold, maybe develop into the flu or something.
Sweating disease all over the dumbbells, benches, and barbells! haha...
Sleep! lol. let your body rest that way you can recover quicker and get back to working out full force.
Are you still coughing and sneezing all over the place and spreading germies wherever you go? If you are, please do the world a favour and STAY HOME! It's okay to exercise if you have a head cold or a sore throat - light exercise is generally good for you - but if you're likely to be contagious it's only polite to avoid other people as much as possible. It drives me nuts when people 'tough it out' - I think they just want to spread the misery! They don't seem to realise that OTC cold medicine doesn't do ANYTHING to get rid of the germs, it just covers up some of the symptoms.
What I've been told is that general rule of thumb is that if it's above the neck, you can still work out...but if it's moved to the chest (below the neck) then rest!
But either way, don't go to the gym for a workout if you are still sick. So many ppl go there and you wouldn't want to get everyone else sick! Or worse, pick up something from someone else that keeps you sicker longer!
Sometimes it's OK totext in a restaurant.
