How bad if I eat 2 of 100 calories granolar bar in a row?????
oh... and is the lady time of the month has anything to do with this?
Yes, your time of the month will make you temporarily gain a few pounds in water weight as well as cause visible bloating.
But I agree with #2. You are not eating enough.
there is a lot of peer pressure in her culture back home to be UNDERweight...I already suggested she give up the dieting and learn @ nutrition/health/effects of exercise/seek out professional help/contact w/elderly guidance in her community...
feanor, sunkissed...any suggestions for her based on all the above?
Breakfast: 2 cups of corn flake cereal, 1 of 60 calories yogurt, 1 white egg, A rice cakeLunch: 0.25 serving of Noodle,1 of 4" pancake, 0.6 cup non fat milk, 0.5 slice of banana bread.
Snack: 1 small apple
Then, I went running
Snack: 1 small apple
Dinner: 1.5 oz of tuna in a water, 0.5 cup of white rice, 2 granola bar
Is that not enough??
I have been very obsess about this all month!! Actually I didn't want to lose that much weight but I just want to stay on where I am. Last time I came to USA, I gained..like...12 or 13 pounds in 2 months and my parents and my friends just shocked. I just don't want to go back home in May and have to lose weight because I miss my country food sooooooooooo bad. And I expect to eat a lot of those during my summer time. Any suggestion on how to maintain my weight??
How old are you? I'm sorry Charming, but you're displaying textbook example of what an eating disorder is. I don't mean that harsh at all. You're fine eating 2 granola bars in a row. 200 calories is not going to hurt you. There are healthier options of 200 calories, but nonetheless, they won't hurt you.
Bloating/swelling can definitely be a sign you need some water in you.
You're not eating enough & I think you know it... and what you are eating is Lo-Calorie... and lo-calorie does not always mean healthy... for example white rice, pancake, corn flake cereal... healthier options would be brown rice, multigrain pancake or waffle, fiber full or protein enrich cereal...
you should really make sure you are getting quality calories and not junk; granola bars tend to be high in sugars; read all labels to see what they put in them; you will be surprised! ask yourself "is that how it was found in nature?" yes then you should consider having more of them
charming_imy, my suggestion would be for you to STOP COUNTING calories. Eat healthy things, of course, but you should be eating whenever you are hungry. This is the time when your body needs to be growing-- if you don't give it enough calories, your growth will be STUNTED. We're just worried for you.
If nothing else, please make sure you are taking a daily multivitamin!

OH!! One more thing....I have a hormone problem that I stop growing. This is a result from some fast food fried chicken that inject growth hormone into those chicken we ate. I'm one of the victem of these bad growth hormone. I stop growing since my 7th grade and during my elementary school, I had to see Dr. every month and controled my weight for 3 years....so.....just to warn you guys...if you have kids or young children...stay away from those food!!
Are you serious???? How tall are you parents? If you were a victim of growth hormone you should be taller not shorter. I think that whoever is telling you this is full of hogwash, sorry!!
Even so, yes I agree, fast food chicken is satan embodied in a meal. My KFC addiction was the straw that broke the camel's back.
if you want to maintain your current weight then don't eat junk food while you are visiting here, eat plenty of vegetables and fruit and whole grain foods, stay away from deepfried meat.
But, forgive yourself, too, if/when you gain a pound. it will come off.
good luck to you, charming. I hope one day you can walk away from the pressures you feel about how much you have to weigh. There's a lot more to you than how you look to other people!
be safe.
as everyone here has said, try to focus more on HEALTHY eating rather than calorie counting. I totally understand where you are coming from, I lived in Thailand for 6 months (working at the National Metals and Materials Lab in Pathumthani). I don't think people on this site can even fathom what the culture is like when it comes to being thin. I have never experienced anything like it in my whole life. And to add to that, try being an average sized white girl, who at 5'4" is quite a bit taller than most of the Thai girls and with an Athletic build. I honestly can't count how many times I was told that I was too big, or that they didn't have big sizes when I went clothes shopping in the markets. And it wasn't in a mean way, its just the culture, white people are just viewed as big, no matter what size you are. Its pretty much enough to make ANYONE develop an eating disorder if you live there long enough. I had put on about 5 lbs from my ideal weight while I was there and I think I felt the biggest I had in my entire life (and I once weighed 190lbs). I had a very warped perception of my body for a good year+ after leaving, and know a few of my western friends that I met there also experienced the same negative effects. I think Charming is taking the first step here, but it will take a lot of time and desire on her part to change her way of thinking.
Charming, I do hope you try to take what everyone here has said to heart. If you start eating healthy and get regular exercise, you will be able to eat a substaintial amount and maintain your weight. Not eating enough has many bad consequences on your body, in addition, you may find yourself overeating instead because your body is TRYING to get you to feed it properly. Try using the tools here, most likely, you need quite a bit more than 1200 calories to maintain. Plus, teens usually need another 300+ minimum ABOVE that 1200 number, although this may be different for you if you really have stopped growing for whatever reason, but I would be very wary of that. Chances are that if you are active, you probably shoudl be eating more like 1600-1800 calories a day for your height and weight! If there is any way you can get your eating on track now, maybe you can go back to thailand and healthier you. Note that after eating so little for a long time, you may initially gain a bit by upping your calories until your body adjusts. The best way to do it is to add 100 calories at a time gradually.
btw, I miss the food too.... you just can't get anything like it outside of Thailand.

I think it's call growth hormone or probably the problem is the other way around (sorry..i'm kinda confuse with English since it's not my first language) but the thing is this hormone in those KFC chicken make the chicken grow faster. When your body get those bad chemical substance from the chicken you eat...your body will grow faster....grow...not tall. For young children, you will have period at the younger age and your bone will grow faster (when I was 11, my write bone show that I'm at the age of 13). So when the body seems to grow faster....generally, female stop growing at the age of 18 but since my body think I was 18 when actually I was 14...then my body stop grow. (The way I explain it may seems weird due to the language problem....I don't really know how to eplain this stuff in English) So....yep....try to stay away from thise chicken!!
charming,
you have gotten some bad information about eating KFC. Yes, they do inject their chickens with growth hormone (so that they get bigger, faster and have more meat on them). As far as your body growing "faster" I'm assuming you mean getting fatter and YES, THAT IS A RESULT OF EATING TONS OF KFC! But eating chicken that has been injected with growth hormone is not going to directly affect your growth. It's very possible for you to have a larger bone structure, hence what you said about your bones showing you're 13 at the age of 11. No doctor is going to tell you that you have stopped growing or are growing faster as a result of eating lots of KFC. In addition, there's no way for you to know that you've stopped growing at age 14. If you haven't noticed any growth in height over the past two years, it's possible that you will get taller before you become an adult. Growth is NOT an exact science and varies with the individual. I hope this helps.
Also, if I were you, i'd try as hard as I can to stop obsessing and go out and EAT! Food for many is the spice of life - don't deprive yourself of it! Take full advantage of your young metabolism and enjoy yourself!
OR
2.) play sports at least 30 minutes every day along with taking calcium and another pill I can't remember the name.
I chose number two and be able to grow a bit taller than Dr. expect
However...I'm not saying that's it's directly from KFC but there are MANY kids in my country who is going through this problem. Usually, young children will have CHANCE to grow taller as long as their bones are not fully attached to one another (this is why I have to X-ray my wrist bone every time). But thanks anyway for corrections. I'm trying to eat normally and stop counting calories... (Still, I'm counting calories again but today I eat like 1400 calories plus 30 minutes running on trademill...I'm trying to figure out the way to stop doing this to myself).
