Bad with fruit?
I know that no binging is good, but since fruit has so much sugar, does it make it worse for you to binge on that than something else? Especially late at night? Or does it not matter what it is?
I binged on fruit and felt kinda yucky, so I waited then exercised hoping to use up the extra sugar but...I don't know if that would work or help or not =\ What do you think?
however, i've binged on it and never gained a thing. fruit is mostly water and fibre. it passes through your system quickly so your body doesn't absorb a lot of it, i don't think. i actually like to finish my meals with fruits because i think it helps with digestion.
i'm no expert. but in my *opinion* binging on fruit is nothing to feel guilty about, and 500 calories of fruit will not make you gain weight whereas 500 calories of chocolate and ice cream probably will... not very much, but it puts you in a downward spiral because it doesn't have any nutrients in it. if you're gonna binge, binging on fruit is the way to go because it's full of so much good stuff for you.
probably doesn't help?? don't worry about the binge, though.
A calorie is a calorie. If you eat less than you burn, you'll lose weight. It doesn't matter if the calorie is from fruit or chocolate or sirloin steak.
HOWEVER - fruit provides important nutrients & fiber, and chocolate doesn't. You can get your daily requirement of vitamins C and A from an orange. Fruit is also high in sugar to give you energy - it's not just empty calories.
So go ahead and eat your fruit!
lAs Claire said a calorie is a calorie, however fruit caloires are very nutrionally dense calories and fruit tends to be 80 -90 percent water. It is also generally very high in fiber, and has a very low calorie to volume ratio, as opposed to say cake, candy or chips which are loaded with adde sugars, bad fats and have a very high calorie to volume ratio, with little or no nutrition in return. With fruit you won't be able to eat as much as it will fill you up, especially if you drink water with it, and you will also get high amounts of several valuable nutrents as well.
If however you are not used to a high fiber high fruit/veggie diet, be forewarned that your colon may be very grumpy the next day, or even if you do eat a lot of fruit and veggies over doing it could still be painful the next day, so make sure to drink lots of water as well.
I once had a fig binge {think similiar to prunes} quite a while back and my colon was pissed for a good 24 hours, as even a good thing can be overdone.
I love fruit. basicly live on the stuff, and i manage to loss a few pounds.
Pineapple, peaches, apples, pears, frozen berries. Oh so good, and it can be a really good lift when I get tired during the day!!
GO FRUIT!!!
I feel pretty bloated and my belly looks a little...round this morning. I feel kind of bad about it, even though everyone says fruits have a lot of nutritional value! I felt so icky when I got up this morning that I tried to exercise and I couldn't get through it! I had already eaten too so I would have thought I could do it...it almost made me feel like a failure haha Kind of like, I can't even get through a workout anymore. Maybe my body is just too tired, but I think I'll try again later and see what happens.
When I was exercising last night I heard the trainer say something that I'm trying to remind myself everytime I feel bad though...
"Do your best, forget the rest!"
I know exactly what you mean about not being able to get through a workout because of feeling like you've failed your diet.
I also binge on fruit a lot, too:( I get hungry and tell myself that fruit is the only okay thing to eat--but then I realize I've eaten over 500 calories in fruit anyways and might as well have had something with a little fat and protein to fill me up.
