I have TERRIBLE skin and have had since I was about 10/11 (I'm 21 now). I drink loads of water, excercise, eat fresh fruit and veg, remove my make up at night, cleanse my skin blagh blagh blagh and yet still have skin like a bee keeper's apprentice!! I am SICK of it!!

Does anyone else have this problem and if so can you recommend anything for it?

Thanks :)

I feel ur pain girl! I have d same problem, started when i was 14 n iam 22 nw. the thing tht has been helping me lately is seeing a derm. I use a mild cleanser(cetaphil). She also told me no scrubbing, no facials until i was 25 at least. n try any topical bp cream at night n a clindamycin gel in the mrng. And always use non-comedogenic products. This is what has been helping me.

Good Luck! :)

Good/bad skin is also heriditary. If bad skin has been prevalent in your family history, you are likely facing your genes and sadly nothing much can be done about it. However, you can always consult a good dermatologist and see what he/she recommends.

All the best.

I never really had bad skin through high school but once I graduated my skin totally broke out and it's been really bad for about a year now. I went on a few different medications for it, including some topical things, nothing really helped. One of my best friends went on accutane when she had really horrible skin and now it's perfect so I decided to talk to my derm about it. I've been on accutane for about a month now, it makes your skin break out really badly for about a month and then it starts to improve and once you've been on it for 3 months your skin will be completely clear and is supposed to stay completely clear for at least 5 years, but lots of people have permanant results.

It's a big hassle, so unless your skin is really bad and you're really insecure about it I wouldn't suggest it. You have to take a pregnancy test, wait a month, get your blood drawn so the lab can check to make sure your liver is ok, then get another pregnancy test, do this online thing called iPledge basically saying you won't get pregnant over and over again, and then FINALLY your derm will write you a perscription for 30 days. Then you need to find a participating pharmacy and pick up your medication, which is pretty pricey unless you get generic versions. You have to do all of this because if you get pregnant while on accutane your baby will have severe birth deffects.

Then you have to get blood tests and pregnancy tests every month, still filling out the iPledge thing, before your derm will write you your next 30 day perscription.

It's a very long and annoying process, but I think it will be worth it, at least for me. Your skin gets really, really painfully dry, I've gotten pink eye once because my eyes are so dry and irritated, I suddenly have dandruff, and if I don't have chapstick with me at all times I want to cry.

But in two months I'll have perfect skin, so it's worth it. I hope this helps.

Wow that's pretty hardcore!TBH I don't know if my skin is bad enough to warrant medication that serious! Really hope it works for you though Smile

Yep I have adult acne, which is basically allergies to makeup, lotions and facial cleansers. My derm told me to switch make up every two weeks. So I have 4 different brands I use each for two weeks and then I go on to the next. I mark each bottle with a number so I dont get confused and put last weeks makeup on this week. I do the same with facial lotions and cleansers. I know it sounds like a lot of work but it is actually pretty simple. You might want to also clean your makeup brushes at least every two weeks so that you don't keep spreading bactiria from old breakouts. Just rinse them with alcohol after you use them and lay them out to dry. They'll be clean and dry by the next morning when you need them again. Good Luck
