How bad is skipping meals?

I dont know why but I just can't eat at school, im never hungry.. its weird

 

But anyways, how bad is that?  Usually I eat oatmeal for breakfast(9-10est!) and i'll get home at 3-4  and then eat a huge meal and then later at night ill eat again.  How unhealthy is that for me?  This is only two days a week mind you where I have classes all day, the other days I eat a normal breakfast lunch and dinner

As long as the total cals is ok. Eating more reg. will give your metabolism a boost. Are you tired at school?

Skipping a meal is ok, but i think the thing is you get home and eat a HUGE meal. Why not have a normal meal at home, and a snack at school to give your body a boost. Perhaps you dont like to eat in front of other people. Or perhaps you are too busy for hunger. It happens. Just try a small snack and minus those cals off your huge dinner. At first you may be hungry - replace with water until you balance it.
It doesn't sound like you're skipping a meal, actually.  It sounds like you're just postponing it until you get home.   Personally, I wouldn't be able to go that long stretch without totally binging when I got home.  I'd be too hungry.  BUT, everybody is different.   If it's working for you, then I guess it's not a big deal.   The only word that concerns me is the HUGE meal part...   Maybe you should try eating just a little snack at school so you don't need to eat quite so much for your delayed lunch.

I would say you have to find out what works for you.   If you can skip the meal, not be hungry, meet your calorie requirements, and accomplish your goals then by all means go for it!  If you find that it's causing problems for you, you might need to come up with another solution.

I know the standard meal plan is 5-6 small meals per day, but I've done great personally with 2-3 meals.  I'm averaging around 2 pounds lost per week over the past 4 months.  One day a week I have class immediately after work for 6 hours.  No time for dinner at all, so I'll eat basically whatever I want for lunch.  It's like a cheat day, but I still stay within my calorie goals.  It works for me and I never get hungry.  If I do, a protein bar for a snack can get me through the night.

As long as you're getting enough calories and you're not hungry I wouldn't worry about. I for one rarely have breakfast and if I do I tend not to have lunch because I'm just not hungry
To stay healthy and keep a healthy metabolism, and to boost your metabolism I'd suggest start eating smaller meals. Bad eating patterns tend to add up, and by going a long time without eating your body may start to adjust to eating little calories, and not be able to handle your huge meal later on. Which will turn your calories into fat. Also, food is energy. Going a long time without food can make you less able to focus etc... but whatever works!

Yeah, i would have to agree with vee300.. less is more!!!

but i do think it is better to eat a lot of small things during the day to at least keep your metabolism going so you won't go into starvation mode... no one likes skinny fat!  so just try and eat more frequently~ it doesn't seem like you're over eating, but you should probably aim for more even distribution of the amount of food you eat.. know what i mean?

If you truly can't eat at school, and you're eating a huge meal when you get home because you're starving (which I suspect is the case) then why not eat a bigger breakfast to help you get through the 6 hours?  That's an awfully long time to go on just oatmeal.
