Baked Beans?

What is everyone's opinion on plain generic baked beans (without pork or anything in it)?

I actually asked my dietician about it today and she HIGHLY recommends baked beans as a high protein, low fat choice! :)

There are some great cans of Indian blends of Lentils and beans, called DAL, that are very tasty, even spicy!!!  Beans are a great food!!

But the only people who really need to be concerned about sodium are people who already have high blood pressure, or add salt to everything they eat. 

dm84 where do you come up with this stuff?  That's like saying the only people who need to watch calories are already fat.

I love baked beans.  I ate them all summer long with BBQ chicken breast.  They're filling.. sometimes I pour off some of the sauce though.

My doctor and nutritionist did. I'm not saying they're the word of god or anything.

Sugar isn't the only problem, there's lots of sodium in most canned beans too. But you can find low-sugar and low-sodium baked beans in most supermarkets.
