Not getting balanced nutrition?
Because of a facial injury I can't chew and have lost 20 lbs... and I was slim in the first place...
I try to make sure I get enough calories per day eating soft foods and protein shakes, but I'm worried I'm not getting good nutrition because I have very little variety. I also don't know much about carbohydrates, etc, and am not sure how many I need or what the consequences of not having enough are. Could somebody check out my food list and tell me what I should add (has to be soft or liquid) to make my diet more balanced/complete?
FOODS I EAT EVERY DAY:
Brie cheese/processed cheese slices/melted Monterey Jack cheese
Whole wheat crackers/whole wheat bread/skyflake crackers
Protein shake (chocolate Muscle Juice, made with rice milk, occasionally with hemp milk, cow's milk, whip cream, and sometimes nut butters added) with added olive oil
FOODS I EAT OFTEN:
Avocadoes
FOODS I HAVE OCCASIONALLY:
Bananas
Tomato soup
Sardines/canned herring
Applesauce/Carrot-Apple Juice
ALSO: Every few days I have a liquid vitamin and calcium supplement, and every few weeks I have a magnesium/potassium supplement and some salt or an electrolyte drink.
Thanks for evaluating this and giving me your opinion:
home made soups are way more nutritious than canned soups, and you can customize the recipes to meet your needs. i have a couple of great recipes for pureed lentil soup. let me know if you're interested.
(if you're not a cook, maybe you can contract someone to make you big batches to freeze.)
Soups - yes, I should do more of that. I'm not a big lentil fan, but maybe I'll try out some of your soup recipes anyway, could you post the recipes? Thanks so much.
Are you kidding? This is The People's Republic of Canada, land of Socialist Health Care, where the sytem provides the lowest grade and least care as humanly possible, since the government doesn't want to have to PAY for anything (even though it's supposedly our tax dollars.)
