Anyone tried the banana diet? I'm thinking that in conjunction with cc it might be okay? Are bananas not considered the perfect food?
Do I even want to know what the "banana diet" is? My gut reaction is "no, I do not want to know what that is"
Hey no big mistake!!!
Bananas are like the worst fruit when your trying to lose wight, or my nutritionist says so anyway the thing is the banana itself is not bad full of potassium however its what you eat after it like even if you eat a super healthy meal after you've had a banana, it makes you keep all the fat of the meal thus preventing your body from burning anything.
My friend is on a weight "gain" mission, ya i know its ironic. She's been told to eat a lot of bananas since this will help her achieve a healthy weight and slow down the metabolism.
Hope this helps! :)
You eat a banana or two before every meal. Makes sense I guess if it fills you up with something good???
If you fall for a fad diet you will end up right where you started.
I love bananas and have one almost every day. Not sure what the banana diet is, but the thought of eating more than one a day is not appealing.
The mission of C-C is to promote a healthy lifestyle, not fad diets.
Have fun on your diet. Let us know when you never want to see a banana again.
So what you're saying.. this banana diet, is you eating 2 or so bananas before every meal? So.. 220 extra calories before each meal. 3 meals a day. 6 bananas. 660 calories in bananas.
That's not a diet I want to try. Thanks :) I'll stick to my variety of fresh fruits, veggies, lean meats, and good fats.

Your nutritionist told you this? That is a load of crap!!! It makes no sense. Seriously, I'm trying to wrap my head around that one and I just can't. You are constantly burning calories, I don't think there's anything that actually prevents your body from "burning anything." If anything, bananas are more calorie dense than other fruits, so that may be the reason some may say that they are "bad" for dieters. They are however, filling and above all, good for you.
I eat a banana almost every day and I have for as long as I can remember. And I lost 55 pounds. Not due to eating a banana every day, of course...due to sensible dieting and exercising.

You are cracking me up today.
Is this what you're talking about?
I love bananas but the thought of eating six in one day is a bit much for me.
When you eat six or so bananas you feel bloated and fat.
I can barely even stomach one. The texture is so horrible, it has made me nauseous since I was only four. I just figured out that I can tolerate them if I mash them up beforehand, but still. Ugh. THREE a day. YUK!
Wow, scary thought. I like bananas but that's overkill. But hey, you'd save money since bananas are one of the cheapest fruits!
Insane! Lookup clean/balanced eating. That is what you want. Fad diets do more harm than good. Why yoyo? Make a lifestyle change and stick with it. That is the only key for long term success.
I love bananas! they wuld make a great breakfast!I'd do it!
sounds like another fad diet to me
These fad dieters better not make the prices on bananas go up...I can't afford groceries as it is.

hahahaha oh my God the baby formula diet. If beer yeast made you thin I'd be 80lbs by the way, but I doubt they meant it in beer form
Bananas are hardly the first fad diet to create shortages in Japan's consumer markets. During the 1970s, there were similar runs on black tea fungus, oolong tea and konnyaku; during the 1980s it was baby formula, banana and boiled egg; then, in the '90s, came apple, nata de coco, cocoa and chili pepper; and during this decade black vinegar, carrot juice, soy milk, beer yeast and toasted soybean flour (kinako). Last year's fermented soybean (natto) diet emptied supermarket shelves. Based on experience, Horiuchi predicts that the banana boom will last only another month or so. "In the past, there were all kinds of hit diets. But they never last, do they? So, we don't really want to end up with an uncontrollable banana surplus."

That post was made of win.
I love bananas! Don't make me eat them every day! I don't want to hate them. I'm sure bananas are full of all sorts of good stuff, but the thought of not having a salad, or bread or some type of protein makes me want to turn to an alternate diet --> Beer and donuts. Where did you get the banana diet idea from? That's just wrong. Two smacks for you upside yo head!
