Recipe Ingredients for Barley Drink

200 grams barley
250 grams melon
3 litres water
1 Sugar to taste

Recipe Directions for Barley Drink

  1. Wash barley pearls in several changes of water. Put barley pearls in water and bring to a boil. Once it starts to boil remove the bubbles that surface. Keep boiling over medium low heat until the water is clear. Continue to boil for another 10-15 minutes. Add candied melon and simmer for 10??15 minutes.

  2. Allow the barley drink to stand for 15??20 minutes until it has cooled down slightly. Do not strain the drink.

  3. If you prefer it a little sweeter, add sugar to taste. Even without sugar, the candied melon would have sweetened the drink. Serve warm.
