Baseball mom needing ideas when eating out....
Does anyone have any low calories dinners from the fast food resturants? I eat the Classic grilled chicken sandwitch from Mc Donalds (with out mayo of course), and i eat hard tacos fresco style from taco bell and im getting bord of them. I would rather cook at home but with being gone five days out of the week for baseball practice and swimming lessions i find it to difficult to do so.
What about making some meals ahead of time at home. If you run by the house to grab the kiddos run to the fridge and pick up a salad you have already made or a sandwich. If you don't run home maybe you can bring it to work throw it in the fridge and take it with you when you leave. If those aren't options that work for you don't forget you can always run into grocery stores. Many stores now a days have salad bars or prepared salad. They also have fresh fruit already cut up. Deli sections make sandwiches as well.
You could invest in a good insulated lunch bag w/ a gel ice pack, and then take all sorts of premade or homemade sandwiches, salads, yogurt, fruit, etc. with you to eat whenever it's convenient. When it gets cold, invest in a really good bowl style thermos and bring good soup, chili, low cal pasta, etc. I don't have a lot of time to pre-make my meals either, so I really like taking Southbeach Diet wrap and salad kits to work along with some fresh fruit.
Good luck!
I have the same problem! I have 3 in soccer and we are at the field 5-6 days a week and not getting home until around 7:30 at night! We have soup and sandwich night at least once a week b/c its done in about 10 minutes or you can cook a roast all day in a crock pot or chili. That way when you get home its hot and ready. One day last week I had enough time to pre-make baked rotini (just layering pasta, italian sausage (cooked of course) sauce and cheeses) then learned how to use my delay start on my oven and placed it in there and when I got home it had been baking for 30 min and ready to come out of the oven! I had bagged salad so I just put some in bowls and voila! If you absolutely cannot find the time to pre make anything then I would suggest going to Chick-fil- a (they have the best salads) or subway. You can get tons of low fat, healthy things for dinner. Oh and for pizza nights, you can go online and place your order ahead of time and it will come right after get home! Hope this helps and good luck!!
