Battling Gout: Need Help and Motivation!
Hi!
Hoping everybody is in good health! As of now I don't feel good at all, here is my history.
From 245 lbs. a couple of years back I have started to battle gout, starting from cardio exercises and lifting light weights. My weight dropped and plateu around 220 lbs. and so I started dieting and still continue to do cardio exercises and free weights and still battling gout. From 220 lbs. my weight dropped to 210 to 212 lbs. so I added boxing to my daily routine, and then my weight dropped again and plateu again to 204-206. From here on I have already stopped drinking maintenance medicines for my gout and proud to say it has been 6 months already without any medication. With more diet I have dropped my weight and plateu to 200 to 202 lbs., my ideal weight that I want is 180lbs., and because of this I tried a 3 day low carb diet which I know that is not good for people with gout, right now my right foot have swollen (and limping) and I have started to increase my carb intake, I'm feeling so ashamed because even if I look good I am limping right now
and drank NSAIDs again.
I guess I need some motivation right now on how could I drop my weight at 180 lbs. for me it seems so impossible. I can't eat foods that are rich in purines but I know they are good in protein just like nuts, beef, etc., I can't lower my carbohydrate intake that much also because my uric acid will increase . . I dunno what to do already . . HELP!
Are you still suffering from gout? I have had it for 15 years and especially battle it when I am losing weight. I have found some safe ground without going with the pharma path. Even though Alupurinol (sp) doesn't have many side effects going on a pharma solution doesn't appeal to me.
The trick for me has been Black Cherry capsules from Vitamin World or GNC - one each day. Also a combination of Pantothenic Acid and Pantethine. About 500mg per day of each works great. Both are water soluble and what you don't use, you lose. When I get all the weight dropped I am going to experiment with getting back to just the minimum dose of each. I get the Pantothenic Acid from GNC and I order the Pantethine on-line from Vitacost. This also reportedly has some Cholesterol benefits and even colitis
I have had some horrible gout attacks in the past and I have not had one in months. Of course, I am stupid and I have run out of something and go for a few weeks without and here comes the gout. Never Again. This works great for me.
Good Luck.

Thank you so much, yes I still have gout and it kicks in when I'm trying to cut my carbohydrate intake, and I am really losing hope. But your post gave me this sudden rush of adrenaline to help me continue my weight loss journey.
I'm hoping we could communicate more and other people who also have this problem so we could help out each other, thank you so much for your advice.
I'll try to purchase the supplements you have mentioned since I reside here in the Philippines I might have difficulty looking for them.
Best regards and hoping to hear more from you!
I hate the Philippines, I've been asking around GNC stores here and they dont even have any idea about Black Cherry Capsules even the large grocery stores here does not even have a Black Cherry Juice!
