Bay Area Get Together!

Quote  |  Reply

Okay.

I'd love to get together with a group of health conscious people and explore the city, go on hikes, find new places to eat, watch movies, etc,.

Problem is, I'm a bit shy when it comes to new people, in person. Thus, the internet is my refuge! Are there any other people in the bay area (San Francisco, Marin, Oakland, Berkeley, Daly City, Pacifica, etc,.?) who would like to join me for some friendly get togethers?

This can be weekends or weekdays after work, either way, I just want to make new friends with people that are same minded when it comes to eating well (we won't go to BK or McD's!) and staying fit (while we may watch a movie, we can also go hiking earlier in the day!)

I work in SF 8-5 Monday through Friday. I live in Pacifica :) Anyone else want to join in the fun?

I grew up in Napa...it's really not that exciting unless you arent from there.

I don't live in the town of Napa.  I live in a smaller town, actually!  :)  But I'm from Eureka, so I have learned to generate my own excitement.  ;)

ooh yeah Napa is nice! My good friend and his family moved there this year. unfortunately so far!

I went to the Culinary Institute for my bday with mom this year, AMAZING!

I adore Aptos and its foggy/sunny weather, but we are toying with finding a new locale after summer. maybe Seattle or BC. I have never experienced "real" seasons, as non-californians like to tell me. (so what right?) I want to enjoy the long empty beaches while I can.

Um please don't move to Seattle: it only really has 1 season which is Rain or a cloudy day...I moved to the Bay Area to get away from it...Good luck!

I moved to the bay area (Berkeley) to get away from Portland's rain! I didn't have the best of circumstances though: I moved there alone in the middle of winter! I love the NW but just for vacation! However, if you DO move to BC I have some wonderful contacts for you!

I agree the Nwest is great in the summer time !

Starting this up again! The rain needs to stop soon, but it won't this weekend sadly. I'm thinking we get together a monthly group to do one fun new thing every month!

Hikes, rock climbing, food tasting in the city, movie watching, you know!

I'd like to do one of these wildflower hikes (although, I'm open to non-Marin ideas if anyone knows a trail that has a good display!):

http://www.marintrails.com/flowers.html

I've done the Chimney Rock one.  It is short, so not much of a workout, but it is PRETTY.  I think most of them start blooming in March (and I think cause of the warm weather, we're going to have a bit of an early spring).

Any interest?  What weekends are people available?

I'm available most weekends, but I think I'm doing taxes NEXT weekend (not tomorrow thank god), so I'm out then. I'll be in Sacramento.

I'm in Davis, near Sacramento, and am willing to drive to the bay area for fun and games.  The weather has been pretty unpredicatable lately, so it's hard to plan ahead, but those days between storms have been gorgeous!  Hope you're all able to get outside when it's not raining.

Okay guys, it's starting to warm up and look LOVELY! We need to plan this stuff! I'm busy the next two weekends, but after that it's open season! Let's get together and do something active!

My schedule is open except for this Sunday, and May 2nd.

I'm down for anything, but will potentially flake at the last minute depending on the weather (if there's wind, I'll be kiteboarding... I need as much water time as I can get before Brazil!).

We still never rescheduled Angel Island.  I have a book of 101 Bay Area hikes at home if anyone wants some ideas.  I also think it would be fun to go kayaking or rent some canoes... but that would take a lot more planning than a hike.

Or at least it looked lovely yesterday. Laughing Still, a bit more rain is good for the state and our water woes.

I would love to go kayaking. I've never done it and always thought it looked fun. Not to mention it's great exercise and my shoulders and arms can always use a bit of work. (Shh, don't tell my trainer I said that.)

That said, if the stars align properly, it sounds like fun and I'm in.

Here are my ideas:

  • rock climbing
  • hiking
  • tide pools (so much fun!)
  • city walking/food tasting
  • angel island
  • state park weekend get aways (YOSEMITE!)
  • movies, arcades, museums

adding other's ideas:

Oh, Michelle and I are trying to work out a bike ride in GG park. So far I've flaked on her but am hoping to settle on a date when she get's back from her trip overseas. We can start our own biker gang.

I want to be invited to any food tasting activities :-)

How many San Francisco hills do we need to climb to burn off dim sum lunch?  ;)

These people also have good ideas.  We can steal them, and then do them on our own (and avoid the exorbitant fees):

I say we show up on the day of their events and follow them around.

HELL YES. City Stalking, a new past time for the eternally childlike.

I checked out there website, very cool stuff--but also kinda of expensive but I still want to do it :)

So I just registered for Bay to Breakers. It's $44 if you register before 4/30 and for the money you get a free t-shirt and all the corn tortillas you can eat. Or you can save $44 and crash, I won't tell...

I have an afro and am planning on a 70's workout vibe for my outfit.

Anyone else up for it?
