i say plan on failure. eat super low cals during the day (like not SUPER low... but low) and then have fun at the party.  I say dont consider it a "free" day... but think of it as maintence.

also... this might not work for you, but it works for since i have a super high sweet tooth, but not so much cravings for red meat.  I skip the main course, like the hamburger or hot dog, and just load up on veggies.  when i do that i feel like its okay to eat some of the desserts.  its a really unbalanced way of eating, but i only do it once in a blue moon.

good luck!

peee.esss.
I read yor profile because looking at your picture it doesnt look like you need to lose any weight at all... and congrats on the 28 lbs! what was your starting weight?
AH, i'm in sports too and i know what you're going through.  Skip the buns on any meat, LOAD UP on veggies, opt for a diet soda or water, and try to be concious of what your putting in your mouth.  It's the best you can do.  If you really have to have cake, you really have to have cake--it's understandable.  One day won't kill you.

btw--someimtes there are veggie burgers.  those are great as a lower cal yummy option.  consider it?

take care
When I was vegetarian I learned--nobody really minds if you bring some more stuff to share--so, if you don't think hotdogs and hamburgers fit into your meal plan, bring some chicken or some veggie burgers (not just one serving, 'cause other people WILL be interested). A tray of cut up veggies with some low-fat dip would be great as well.

Oh, and some wise people around here advised me to drink lots of water at functions like this. It's helped me a lot.
i dont agree at all. Don't plan for failure. Just plan!

Drink a lot of water.... eat a burger if you want to..... eat a piece of cake if you want to..... just think maintenance don't binge eat and pay attn to your body... if you find yourself falling into the hole fast say "megz, if you drink this bottle of water adn still want the brownie/pizza/funnelcake ;) in 20 minutes then you can have a piece" you rarely ever want it after that 20 min....

you can do it.
thanks everyone.. and my starting weight was 150

wish me luck!

I learned of two great recipies when I was going to WW for desserts, you could make one and then you would have a healthier alternative...

One is Angel Food cake with pineapple.  You take a boxed angel food cake mix and combine it with one can of pineapple (crushed w/ juice) and bake according to the instructions on the box.  Then you top it with cool whip.  Very yummy and low cal (high sugar but better than regular cake) for WW this entire cake is 24 points (approx 100-150 cal per regular size piece)

The other one is take any boxed cake mix and mix it with a can of diet soda and bake according to the directions and top woth cool whip.  You pick the diet soda according to the cake mix you choose, so chocolate cake with diet coke or diet cherry coke, vanilla with diet orange (really yummy like a dreamsicle) or spice cake with diet root beer, you get the idea.  (approx 150 cal per regular size piece)

They are a tasty alternative to high fat options and people who are not dieting enjoy them too!!!

I would also bring my own chicken breast to BBQ, you can cut cals there and not feel bad about having a dessert.
Eat a healthy meal before you go
