I heard a Pink interview where she talked about a dinner party game she plays called BDG's ... Brag, Desires, and Gratitudes.  Each person shares at least one of each - helps us to remember that there are so many good htings in life even when things seem tough

 

 

Who would like to share a BDG?

 

BRAG - I ate SO balanced and light yesterday all day that I was able to have real oil popped popcorn last night as a snack .... without going over calories or carb counts for the day!  It was AWESOME!

 

DESIRE - that by the time I need to buy a new wet suit, I will not have to custom order it because of my size

 

GRATITUDE - Even tough I am technically overweight, I am fit and healthy, I am adventurous nad I am DONE having my weight stop me from doing things I want to do!  Like scuba dive!

Thanks for the kudos and welcome lady. I hope you get your space back soon. I understand the importance of "cuddle" time...after awhile you actually go through withdrawal symtoms LOL

I love your BDGs...it's the small things that mean so much. I really appreciated the breeze that came periodically while I took my daily 20 min walk around my office building...I am in SC and it is HOT down here!

I just read your profile. We have the same birthday month. What day is your birthday? Mine is Sept. 5th

THIS is SO WONDERFUL~!!!!  I LOVE to see the posts when I log in :):)  YEAH!!!

Brag 1 - I weighed myself before I went for my walk - I had taken a LONG afternoon nap and it felt like morning:):)  and I thought OK -- let's see if there is ANY loss ........ 155 lbs!!!  I am going to attribute this to the extra walking AND staying within my caloric parameters:):)  IT IS SO WONDERFUL to SEE a lower number:):)

Needless to say

 Brag 2 - I walked the 5 miles tonight!!!:):)  I almost floated on that last mile LOLOL  AND this represents twice in one day!!!! 

Desire - I look forward to wearing the beige 8's tomorrow.  I am curious to see if they will be a bit looser than they were in the store.  These were the snugest fit which is why I am wearing them last.  I am hopeful ...

Gratitude 1 - It is GREAT to see happy posts:):)  THANK YOU all for posting:):) and sharing YOUR victories:):)  It is these things - I was going to say little but they are important - that help us get through the days:):)  I look forward and WELCOME these posts:):)

Gratitude 2 - This weekend is going GREAT:):)  YEAH!!!!!

AND I slept late so no morning walk BUT I will see if I get one in this afternoon.  Usually I take Mom to church in the afternoon so my afternoon walk is cancelled.  However, I do not know if Mom feels well enough to go to church.  When she awakens then I will know how my day is going to go.

It is a pretty day - bright, sunny, hot and humid - a typical tropical day:)

and I just wanted to say Hi:):)  to everyone and wish you all a delightful day:):)

I will post later on letting you know how the walk went:):) ...oh yes... and about the beige pants:):)

 

Mom is going to church tomorrow - mid morning - so I will be doing my walk this afternoon and perhaps tomorrow morning.

Brag - although I have eaten more today than I normally do - I ate LARGER portions of my healthy foods instead of splurging:)

Desire - The beige pants were tight - but loosened up a bit as I wore them -- I would like them to become baggy:):)

Gratitude 1 - Mom is going to church tomorrow so I can do my walk this afternoon:)

Gratitude 2 - that I have continued making healthier choices in my foods when I am hungrier AND that I am not straving myself to lose weight or get into smaller sized pants:)

Gratitude -- I found an earlier picture of me AND you are SOOOOO RIGHT!!!  I HAVE lost inches!!  There IS a difference in my appearance from then to now AND I can see it.  I no longer have the clothes I was wearing in the picture - they were too baggy to wear:):)  THANK YOU for all the encouragement and positive thoughts and strategies I have received.  It has made a big difference.

Brag - I DID my morning walk:):)  The last mile requires perserverance but what I have now noticed is that I do the first 4 much easily - no hesitation in doing 4 and SOME thought on the 5th:):)  Also, my walking time seems to be improving.

Desire - I would like to do the afternoon walk - I feel GREAT after doing these walks:)  AND I would like to hope they will contribute toward my baggy 8's:)

Gratitiude -- that today is a pretty day:):)  that I woke up early enough to do my morning walk AND enjoy it:):)  that Mom and Dad are doing well:):)

Life is good:):)  AND I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday morning:):)

AND it has NOT rained during these walks!!!!

Gratitude 2 - I have stayed within my caloric requirements - this morning was my crisis point .... Burger King was there and so was the desire to eat the hershey pie.... I thought of this thread and said NO .... and bought the newspaper and two coffees for Mom and Dad and went home.  I am SO GLAD because later on Dad asked if cheeseburgers for lunch was OK with me AND it was!!!:):):)  I had not spent the calories on the hersey pie LOLOLOLOL 

It has been a great weekend and we are finishing the month strongly!!!  Yeah!!!!   I hope all is well with everyone and I wish you all a FANTASTIC evening:):)  I will post tomorrow AFTER my morning walk:):)

Need to go back adn read everyone's posts nad get caught up on the weekend but wanted to get my quick post in before I lose track of time again.

 

BRAG - even with visitors nad car trips and lots of eating out nad bad illegal foods in the house, I still managed a calorie deficit for the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DESIRE - that our July is as successful if not more so, than our June has been!

GRATITUDE - that we got hte in laws home safely Saturday afternoon and that we had the stamina to go to 25 yard sales Saturday morning with mom in law, yes that's right, that 25 is not a typo, pack the truck up, load hte in laws in, stop at one more Goodwill on the way, drove 4 hours to TN, unloaded in laws, sat and talked for about 30 minutes, then drove 4 hours back to Atlanta, picked up our third dog from her temporary home, and finally settled into our home again around 11:15 PM!   AAAAHHHHHHHHHH home sweet home!

Brag - I lost 3 lbs last week

Desire - To lose at least 10 inches off of my waist

Gratitude - That in spite of the extra weight I am carrying, my body is still proportionate!

Brag - I did my afternoon walk:)  It rained a bit in the early afternoon but had cleared up by the time it was my walking time:):)

Desire - that July goes as well as June ...if not better :):)  one more day of June and it is has been a GRAND month:):)

Gratitiude 1 - how wonderful to hear that all went well for you Nancy:):)  and change in sc I think it is TERRIFIC on your weight loss!!:):)   I am always happy to hear good news:):)

Gratitude 2 - that I am still on track - nutrionwise and also with the walking.  I have noticed that my deviations are becoming less frequent :)

Brag - I DID my morning walk:):)  It started to rain on the last lap and I was glad it had not rained sooner:):)  I have upped my walking time also and thus I am burning more calories as I do this walk:):)

Desire - I hope July will be just as wonderful as June has been:):)

Gratitude - WOW!!!  I feel SO wonderful:):)  I remember entering June with trepidation and wistful hope and it is GREAT to have noticed the positive changes that have occurred and can be carried through to July:):)  I think of June 2009 as the pivotal month that changed my nutritional lifestyle for the better.  THANK YOU for ALL your suggestions AND THIS thread has been an important contribution:).   Positive thinking, postive vibes, positive attitude REALLY makes life sweet:):) 

I will post this evening - I am getting my hair colored and trimmed:):)  - my afternoon walk will depend on the rain ... so we shall see:):)

Brag 1 - I decided to go to the pool this afternoon - the day turned from spotty rainy to humid heat - and the pool water was wonderfully warm.

Brag 2 - My hair appointment went well -- my hair is trimmed and without gray:):)

BRAG-I got picked for a special assignment at work.

DESIRE-That I can keep losing inches, since i'm not losing pounds

GRATITUDE-That I have so many supportive friends and family members!

BRAG; my bf commented how sexy i was

DESIRE; never to loose so much weight that i loose breasts

GRATITUDE; Ive gained a little weight, im not worried, probably  a fluctuation and mentioned to my bf he didnt notice and helped me see how silly it is to stress over a few pounds

Brag - I DID my morning walk and on my last mile it began to rain a bit.  As I was climbing THAT hill - which I used to call a mountain:):) - there was a rainbow!! ... it seemed like the skies were saying Yeah!!! for doing your morning walk:):)

BRAG; I hit my first weight loss goal of getting to 190 lbs that I set for Sept 6th. That’s 44 lbs in 6 months!!! ^_^

DESIRE; I am running a half marathon on Sept 6th I want to look good enough to run without a shirt.

GRATITUDE; almost every day someone tells me how good I am looking. It really helps me self esteem and gives me that extra encouragement to stick with my diet and workout plain.

ranyave - LOL - I assumed you were a woman and then wondered what the heck kind of half marathon was going to let you run shirtless!!!!  LOL  Congrats on teh amazing weight loss nad reaching a goal 2+ months ahead of shcedule!  Taht is incredible

and lets not forget my faithful itslucia .... a RAINBOW!!!!!!!!!!!  Doesn't that make you so glad you were walking up that little tiny hill this morning?  Moments like htat make it all worth it.

I am so sorry that I have been absent.

I think it was a matter of recovering from the in law visit and just needing to turn my brain off, as well as absorbing some not se good news from work .... that I should be updating my resume nad looking at job postings within the company, because as a victim of a corporate buy out, we're not sure how much longer we'll be here.  There are some permanent positions with the new company but there are a LOT of people who needs jobs nad there is a ton of stiff competition for those slots.  As a business analyst sort of IT person, I cannot compete with the programmers .... I might be screwed!

AND - my beloved nutritionist Tina who was at hte gym I go to and train at, has resigned.  I am without a nutritionist right now.  WAAAAAHHHHHHHH

Between this website nad Tina the nutritionist I have learned a LOT and know that I have the capability of doign this without Tina, BUT ..... I would email her my food log every day and reflect nad give her feedback on how I think I was doign, she;d give daily encouragement nad suggestions, and would BULLY me when I was misbehaving! 

And wile this site and this thread gives me SO much, there is nothing like having a personal nutritionist, who is not dealing with her own food nad weight issues, to have as my support!

So anyway, I think I am recovering from some personal shake ups ....

 

BRAG - see my Journal - I managed almost 11000 deficit calories for hte month of June!  Yeah!

DESIRE - that we stick together thru July, that I post maybe 15000 deficit calories for July nad htat I continue to get comments nad compliments regularly on my shrinking body

GRATITUDE - that I know I can come back here anytime I need a boost or when I need some focus.

 

 

I am ELATED to see some new namesn ad faces in the past couple days - welcome friends nad please keep the positive energy flowing!

 

Oh a tad bit of good news - lastest blood work results for my thyroid ....

 

TSH levels are uspposed to be between 0.5 and 4.5

At the end of April mine was 18

My synthroid dosage was increased

Retest on Monday has me down to 9

TSH going in the right direction - I will be so happy when it is normal again because this is a huge roadblock and obstacle to overcome when you're trying to lose weight!

My doc is on vacation so I will have to wait till next week to see if she wants to rasie hte dose again, my guess is that she will.

BTW - reading back over posts from the weekend .... seriouslyLucia????????????  155????????????????????????????????
