Beach Body by July, Group (CLOSED)
Hello All,
Its been a while since I have been on this board...or actually counting calories. After gaining nearly 10lbs back over the Holidays...I am back and very serious about the whole weight loss thing.
I was looking at my goal date and its set for my Birth Day july 11, to be 40lbs lighter.
I was wondering if anyone else would be reaching their goal sometimes around summer and would like to join me for a bit of support.
Welcome to the Group. This group is Officially FULL!!! This group is exclusively for those wanting to reach their goals by July of 2009. Each week members will post Weekly goals, updates, and weigh-ins.
TUESDAYS are the Official Check in Day. Please post your weight from Last week (LW), Current Weight (CW), and your Weekly goals for Nutrition, Fitness, and Weightloss. Don't forget to review any goals that weren't met the previous week.
Good luck everyone, we need each other support and motivation. This thread will be open until July 30th 2009.

Hi All,
My name is Mansi and I would love to join a group like this. I'm 26 and would like to lose about 20 pounds as my wedding is July 3rd. I am currently at 141, but am hoping to get down to 120 for the big day. I'm quite the foodie, so I find it very difficult to calculate the calories in Asian/Indian/Arabic etc. food. Does anyone have any advice? I don't really want to eat boiled chicken and salad for the next 6 months, but at the same time I will do what it takes.
On Monday I started doing Tae Bo (Cardio Celebrity Fit workout) after work and 100 sit ups right after as well as 70 sit ups in the morning. It's only been 3 days, but I'm trying to keep it up. I have a small gym in my apartment building so I want to start using the eliptical again as well. I have been tracking my calorie intake on the website as well.
I was hoping to be about 130 by Feb 6 (as I am also going to Cuba with some friends), but I know that might pushing it.
Does anyone have any hunger combating advice!?
Thanks!
I normally eat what ever I want, just make sure the portions are correct. I realize this a very crude way to go about losing weight as I don't keep up with many of the nutrients in my food. So for eating out I limit myself to small portions and make sure have about 800 calories to eat before going out to eat. For example, If I get Sesame chicken I limit myself to half a cup. Also find out what the food is made with..For Example MSG or extra sugar. You might be suprised to find your favorite Asian place uses TONS of additives.
As for fighting hunger, I personally fight it by eating. 9 times out of 10, if I ignore being hungry I will binge later. I usually eat something every two hours, be it a portion of Raisins for snack or a full meal. What counts is portion sizes.
hi everyone, hope everyone is having a good week.
Im 20 going on 21 feb 1st. my weekly goal, is to get into the gym atleast 3 times a week. and to lose some chub before my birthday. 2day i went to the Y with my brother for a couple hours. he played volleyball and i urned like 2000 calories on the arc trainer and the wave machine. its a really good lower body workout.
my weight today was 167. im hoping to be around 162 or less for feb.
as for my measurments, its kinda late so ill post them up 2morw.
We are officially full and I welcome all of our members. Its Thursday and so far I have managed two days of working out and the scale is down from 178 to 175 since Monday. I am guessing water weight....but hey my jeans fit. LOL.
Tonight is my DP's birthday, I plan on making him a cake. We'll see though. We are doing a "No Spend" month, and that means he's not getting a birthday present from me.

i am really excited about this group! i think it will hold me accountable too because i dont want to be the one who's not losing the weight like every one else! yesterday i was really proud of myself...my co worker came and put a nature valley pb granola bar pack on my desk (please note that i LOVE peanut butter...like could eat it out of the jar with a spoon all day, love peanut butter...) and i took one bite out of one then crumbled them up and threw them away!! i think we should post little successes that we have during the week to keep motivated!
p.s. what days are we weighing in?
I am excited about this group as well. My birthday is August 12, so if I could already be at my goal weight in July, that would be amazing! I have kept within my calorie range these couple of days. I am still planning to join the gym tomorrow. I think I am going to try to weigh in only on Tuesdays for a little while so I won't get discouraged by normal fluctuations.
Good luck to everyone the rest of the week. We can do it!
I went ahead and weighed myself, and I'm down to 148.5! :) That's a good sign.
Hi weddingmama! Thanks for the advice. Yes, small portions and small snacks are always a good idea. I have found a few sites online that have some more varied calorie counters (thedailyplate.com) to help with this as well. I think I'm going to get some trail mix to keep at my desk at work for those hunger pangs.
Also, feeling a bit discouraged today. Since I started on Monday, I went up 1.5 pounds!! I've totally been following my calorie restrictions and have been doing Tae Bo and doing some situps in the morning before work and after my evening work out!! :o(

Our Official Weigh in and Check in Day is Teusday. I will put that on the very first Post in Bold so EVERYONE knows.
I also the like idea of sharing small successes.

Heya all,
Wow, so many of you are doing so well already! My eating habits are getting much better but need to up the exercise for sure. So far no changes on the scales but i think its due to the fact Aunt Flo is due for a visit ;) haha! Too much info... Anywho here's hoping on the losing weight, keep it up ladies! :D xx
yay!!! three pounds lighter already!
i do however think that its due to me having the flu, not my dieting or excercising skills :)
Since we are doing weigh ins on Tuesdays I decided that is the only day I am getting on the scale, but only after I looked this morning...and I am down 2 lbs, yay! How motivating.
I have been trying to really skip sugar and eat really low carb because that is my weakness, has anyone tried this and had success long term? I am not doing atkins or anything, just trying not to eat bread, pasta, etc. I like it so far because I do feel fuller for longer, at least that seems to be the case the last few days.
Anyways my small success for the day was, while making my husbands lunch, NOT eating an oreo cookie while I bagged some for him...so hard for me!! I generally eat a cookie every day while making his lunch, it's my treat for being so nice and preparing his meal ![]()
I'm glad to see everyone is so motivated and positive! It just seems like one of the keys to losing weight is support, and boy do I need it here.
My boyfriend--who is great in so many ways!--does not have a clue about eating healthy. He hates to cook and unless I cook, we go out. (The good thing is that he loves to clean, so when I cook, he cleans, but still--planning, making time to food shop and cooking is a chore that would be more enjoyable with his input). Anyhow, he doesn't snack much but has no portion control--especially when we go out. It's just hard to be around when I am trying to be really careful about what I eat and how much.
The good news is that I have been doing great this week and am happy to hear so many other people doing and feeling great, as well.
P.S. Last night I made my favorite salmon recipe--it's salmon steamed in parchment with asparagus, lemon, tarragon and scallion. It's so yummy and easy to make--and my boyfriend loves it too, which is a good sign (as I said, he eats out a lot at nice restaurants, so his palate is a little picky.) Plus, the little parchment packages you put on the plates look cute and kind of professional--resturant style. If anyone wants the link, here it is (I usually cut out the potatoes, but yesterday I spent over an hour playing basketball with a bunch of guys and I was wiped, so I felt like I could use a little starch--especially since my burn meter was nearing 3,000!). I also buy a frozen club pack of salmon and they are individually wrapped in six-ounce fillets, so I just keep them in the freezer for when I feel like salmon (It's also much cheaper).

I forgot to ask in a previous post, does anyone in this group suffer from Hypothyroidism? It makes it extremely difficult to lose weight and i wondered if there was anyone in a similar position to me?
Congrats to you all so far, doing well :D
Well I've worked out every day since last saturday and so far no change in the scale....I've been bouncing between 163 - 165lbs since a couple of weeks before xmas, while I'm happy that I didn't appear to gain at all over the christmas period despite some serious gluttony and lack of exercise, I am sick of seeing the same numbers week in week out. Can't wait for the damn scale to give me some good feedback!
I've also ordered a measuring tape off ebay so I can start taking measurements since I do work out so hard I'd like to see if thats affecting the numbers on the scale - muscles retaining water etc or if I need to look at making any changes to my calorie intake
yeah!! i'm planning on not gettingon the scale except for on tuesdays as well!! i used to weigh every day but since i've gained some weight back from the holidays, i HATE HATE HATE how a number popping up can either make me really happy or really bummed the rest of the day!! i'm going to try focusing on how my clothes are fitting (just a weeee bit tighter than a few weeks ago...haha) and how i am feeling about my efforts to lose those pounds! good luck to every one and HAPPY FRIDAY!! this week has taken FOREVER!!
success: last nite we went to watch the SEC championship, and my boyfriend was downing beers (he's a big florida fan as am i!), but i wasnt in the drinking mood! i was able to be happy with one beer and a diet coke! normally i would feel kind of weird being in a bar for about 4 hours where everyone is drinking alcohol, but i decided to say "screw what other people think!!"
Small successes: Yesterday I joined the gym! I went last night, and am going to go in an hour or so. So, if I can go Sunday and Monday, I will meet my weekly fitness goal! Hope everyone has a great weekend! ![]()
Kudos to Gym Membership. We have a gym membership, to a place that has fitness, swimming and Ice skating. I LOVE IT! Its so much more motivating that doing things at home all the time.
My small success, I worked out today, even though I forgot my work out sheets at home. I almost used that as an excuse NOT to work out. The only real reason I had for working out, was I needed to take shower and my plan was to shower after my work out at the Gym. I made this plan and didn't realize I had forgotten my work out sheets at home until my smelly self was nearly half to the gym.
The other success today is I did the grocery shopping and stayed under budget. :) I bought lots of green stuff and everything I need to make the family 6 Breakfasts, Lunches, and Dinners.

Today was my cheat day (bf's mom's birthday), but yesterday I managed to keep from eating any pizza off the buffet during work, and I didn't eat any of the extra food left over at the end of the night. :) I work at an Italian restaurant, so that's a big feat, hah.
Today was my first day back in uni and i resisted eating any takeout and ate really healthily and carrying all my stuff up three flights of stairs then unpacking them counts as exercise to me so I feel really pleased with myself lol!
Just a real quick check in. I am going to need to work out today..because yesterday I just couldn't get motivated....its a cardio day and I HATE doing cardio at home..but I have no choice really.
I thought about taking the kids to public Ice skating today...and working out while the kids are on the ICE, but there's no guarantee that my 4YO will actually skate. sigh..Don't know what to do.
The other thing...I had a really bad day yesterday with being hungry. I mean ravenous. No amount of eating made the hunger pains go away. So far I figured out that i wasn't enough calories, even though the calories goal was set by CC.....the problem was I forgot to recalculate after I started working out.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.
REMINDER....TUESDAY is CHECK IN DAY.
