Hello All,
Its been a while since I have been on this board...or actually counting calories. After gaining nearly 10lbs back over the Holidays...I am back and very serious about the whole weight loss thing.
I was looking at my goal date and its set for my Birth Day july 11, to be 40lbs lighter.
I was wondering if anyone else would be reaching their goal sometimes around summer and would like to join me for a bit of support.
Welcome to the Group. This group is Officially FULL!!! This group is exclusively for those wanting to reach their goals by July of 2009. Each week members will post Weekly goals, updates, and weigh-ins.
TUESDAYS are the Official Check in Day. Please post your weight from Last week (LW), Current Weight (CW), and your Weekly goals for Nutrition, Fitness, and Weightloss. Don't forget to review any goals that weren't met the previous week.

Okay weighing in today, I've been pretty well behaved over all this week so I'm a little bummed at the results. It really is true what they say, losing weight with a sluggish thyroid is a real pain but it's happening, just really really slowly. Countdown to medication 2 weeks...

No inches lost this week but we can only hope and try to stay on track.
However, really bummed as in two weeks I have to go to the dress fitting for the bridesmaid dresses :( I didn't realise it was going to be so early as the wedding isn't until september! Arrrggghhh!
My goals for this week are to try and lose as much as possible until the fitting and to stick to the Thyroid diet in my book to see if it helps at all....
haven't weighed in today. or since last tuesday for that matter... to be honest, i am scared to!! my boy and i had a big weekend for some friends' birthdays and i ate and drank way more than i should've....
plus at work, i have been getting these cravings for sweets. and unfortunately, i've made my way to the vending machine a few too many times. :(
kinda depressed and really not wanting to get on the scale within the next few days. i may wait until thursday or friday to weigh in. i feel like im carrying around some extra bloat and i'd like to get a few workouts in before i see a number. i'm one of those people that lets a number on the scale make or break my day soo....i'm gonna give it some extra time.
any words of encouragment? i sure could use them....
laphipps, I totally understand about letting the number get you down all day. I ONLY weigh on Tuesdays bc I dont want to get depressed by those little fluctuations. Maybe you can try to bring your own snacks to work? I have tried the little 100 cal snacks. They arent as good for you as fruit, but they help me satisfy my sweet tooth. Don't let it get you down! Just keep trying to make healthier choices and you will succeed!! ![]()
Sorry I've been MIA the last week. My son was sick and life got a little crazy. Here are my stats for this week:

I'm hoping to get back on track at the gym this week. I was hoping to go today, but we got nailed with an ice/snow storm and I spent my "gym time" shoveling my driveway and sidewalks out. At least I burned 250 calories doing it. Planning on hitting the gym tomorrow, Friday and Saturday
Nutrition wise, things are going well. I'm managing to stay in my calorie range every day. Some days I have to get creative to fit all my calories in, but it's getting easier. It's definitely a challenge with working night shift. I'm doing great in not snacking on junk though, so that's a huge improvement.
Hi there--forgot to post on Tuesday. I gained...not sure how and kinda disappointed since I've been counting and working out and all. Ah well...too early to freak out about it. I'll see what the scale says next week:

Total lost over 3 weeks: 3.6--slightly over a pound a week. Slow and steady wins the race, right??
So I went to gym and hopped on their scale. The really nice digital scale.

Now this after having two days of HIGH carbs (Ramen and Spaghetti) and after nearly 45 minutes in a swimming pool. I am not counting this as a gain..nor a loss. Disappointed, yes. Hoping that next week I see a HUGE weight losss YES.

Well entire month has gone by...and how is everyone. IF my scale is precise (not accurate mind you)....I HAVE LOST NO weight or inches. I don't know why.
I calculated my BMR, and it makes NO sense that I would lose weight on nearly 2000 calories a day....neither does it make sense that CC would have me eating nearly 1650 calories with heavy exercise..and 1450 with light exercise.
I am beating my head against the wall on this..and I am VERY close to joining weight watchers, or hiring a personally trainer.
Tomarrow is weigh in and we'll see.
Another rant. My DP went Grocery shopping. Of the nearly 110 dollars he spent, he didn't buy one vegetable. :( He's really good about buying fruit, he said he had to save somewhere. He couldn't skip buying four bags of chips???
Small success...None this week. :( It seems I am fighting an uphill battle.

As of last week, i lost 1 lb last month. I am really going to have to pick it up to be beach confident by July. I haven't done any inch measuring yet, but I think I probably should..maybe it would be a loss and I would find it more motivating. As far as calories and losing weight, I just put my setting on sedentary and then manually add in calories if I exercise.
I think that not losing weight is because I have been having a cheat day every week. It is REALLY frustrating that one day of indulging can ruin a whole week of dieting! I have a really hard time turning down food when it is right in front of me. Yesterday, we had a little superbowl party and I made a veggie and fruit tray with healthy dip. That didn't stop me from eating the velveeta cheese dip with hamburger meat and chocolate chip cookies though!
I totally understand about having a partner who doesn't eat healthy...my boyfriend can eat pretty much what he wants and not gain weight. So we end up spending twice as much at the grocery store so he can buy junk food and I can buy my 'diet' food.
Overall, I think my goal for February should be to work on my willpower! I need to stay within calories everyday AND work out more. It seems like I take every excuse not to go to the gym. I am so tired of feeling fat in pictures with my skinnier friends. I know that I want to feel confident this summer, and I am only going to get there by eating right and exercising more...I just wish I could see faster results!!
Well Its check in day ladies, and I have GREAT news. I have lost weight...it would appear that I was about to give up and the scale moved.

Work out! I changed my schedule, so I could do Cardio at the Gym and two strength work outs at the Gym.
Cut back my fat intake to the recommended 35 grams a day. I am looking for substitutes of my favorites.
More Updates.
For the super bowl I limited myself to some Tortilla Chips and Salsa..and I have started using Salsa and Jalopeno's on my burgers instead of Mayo and Ketchup.
And on the Coffee Front, I have been trying very hard to keep my intake to 1 cup a day...but somedays I have two...it mostly depends. I will say I am doing considerably better than the 3 or 4 cups I would drink before Noon in previous months.

Morning guys!
OK, I haven't had a great week, been away, so no access to a gym and having beating eating particularly well either!
Still no access to a scale, which is probably a good thing.
But anyway, off to the gym in a minute, for the first time in about a fortnight; stocked up on fruit and veg and feeling very motivated, so back to normal next week with weigh-ins/measurements!
Everyone seems a bit down this month; i think its january blues, but now we're into february-the month of valentines, AND edging ever closer to Summer so we really need to start working on this!
Goals:
-Gym five times at least this week (im on uni campus so have NO EXCUSE!)
-No Junk Food for at least this week! I need a bit of a detox so im going to be extra healthy (wholegrains, fruits, veg) and its only a week!
Come on guys! 180 days to go!
this week hasn't been so good.... i sort of fell off the wagon from wed onwards, not a ridiculous amount but enough to not lose any weight. however, ive joined a calorie deficit challenge group so hopefully that should get me moving again! anyway, here are my stats for this week!

managed to work out three times so thats good. didnt quite manage 30 mins of interval training on the treadmill but i did do twenty! haven't eaten any processed food whatsoever so that really good. i think the closest ive come is a subway, but thats not too unhealthy! and it was to soak up all the alcohol i consumed :)

1. meet my calorie deficit of 1000 per day (overall, so 7000 for the week).

I was pretty excited when I stepped on the scale this morning! For the month of January I nearly lost 4 lbs, which is better than the 1 lb I thought I lost.
I went to the gym 4 times this week. I also started attending a zumba class, it is lots of fun and a really tough work out. As far as calories go, I did okay last week, except for superbowl sunday. Congrats everybody on the progress they have made this far!
Weight Goal: For the week, lose 1 lb. For the month, try to lose 5 lbs.
Nutrition Goal: No alcohol and no fast food this week.
Exercise Goal: Go to zumba twice this week. On my other two days, do the elliptical for 30 mins and do 30 mins of strength training.

Nutrition goal: no eating from the breadbasket when I go out to eat. Also, eat a normal portion at restaurants instead of the mega-portion they serve.

Tell me about Zumba. My gym offers those classes at Night I haven't ventured into taking classes...how are they.

I really like them. They combine different dance styles like salsa and belly dancing. I always sweat a lot and have sore legs the next day. At my gym, a LOT of people take the class (like 40) so it doesnt matter that I am kind of uncoordinated...lol. I think that everyone is so busy paying attention to the teacher that they don't have time to watch others.You should try a class and see if you like it.

I haven't weighed in since last week and am starting to be a little disheartened. I've lost only about 2 pounds since I started and I feel like giving up. If it wasn't for my thyroid tablets which I should be getting on Tuesday I would be eating like a monster, I am just barely maintaining my self control. I'm so excited about the prospect of finally feeling like myself again with these tablets and terrified that they won't work. This feels like my last shot to get down to ten stone... If not I think I may just have to give up :(
Well I have been MIA for the past two weeks due to strep throat and bronchitis...fun! Lucky my 12 week old only ended up with a cold, I am so impressed with him :)

Somehow I lost almost 5 lbs in the last two weeks, wahoo. I am not sure how really, I have been completely sedentary and pretty much ate whatever I wanted. But as long as it stays off I won't complain.
My goal for this week is just to start working out again, I did the wii fit this morning for 30 mins and was pooped! And I walked up the stairs at work this morning...yay me!!

Not surprised that I didn't lose weight since I pretty much ate whatever I wanted over the weekend and didn't go to the gym. I did go to zumba twice last week, and did stay within my calorie range during the week. I need to work on my weekend willpower. I think the problem is that I like to go out to eat and drink a few drinks.

So in the last two weeks I lost half a pound, to be honest i really thought Id have gained so im happy with that, any loss is a good loss! Really shows how useful the weighing weekly was to me!
Goals:
Continue eating healthily (which im doing REALLY good at recently)
and go to the gym 4 times this week (which im not doing so good at-but ive got one down so hopefully!)
Mini Goal: Want to FINALLY be in the 160's next week!
