I'm going to the beach next week yay!  Does anyone know of any fun books to read while on vacation?

Anything written by Kurt Vonnegut.

"The other boleyn girl" is really trashy but good!  A real bodice ripper, 100 times better than the movie was.  Also the twilight books - I know they're for teens, but a lot of mums of teens / tweens have read them and loved them.

"girl with the dragon tattoo"! great book.

"eat, pray, love" - 'nother great one and perfect for the beach

"Bel canto" by ann patchet - magnificent book! you'd probabably whip through it in a week.

carl hiaason writes awesome/hilarious/page-turning FL mysteries that are also all wonderful beach reads.

Heh I tried reading twilight but I couldn't finish the first book. All that "oh his skin glowed" "he's so perfect" "i'm such a bum" kind of thing totally turned me off from the book.

I don't have link of it but there was this article how twilight reflects LDS(Latter Day Saints) values. Yes, I know the author was LDS.

A book that I would recommend to anybody is called "Game of Thrones" by George R. R. Martin. It's a fantasy book but it's not one of those cheesy fantasy. There's very little magic involved, amazing AMAZING plot between familiest over power.

Water for Elephants, Special Topics in Calamity Physics, I Am Charlotte Simmons, The Red Tent, I could go on for days!

Sorry, I was an English major :)

Special Topics in Calamity Physics was a great read.  George RR Martin too.

Try The Time Traveler's Wife, the Janet Evonovich "numbers" books (I don't like her regular romance novels), Jasper Fford's Thursday Next series, or the Richard Jury books by Martha Grimes.

Oh I completely forgot The Time Traveler's Wife!!! One of my favorite books! Can't wait for the movie. :)

Water for Elephants

I'm gonna second this one. I didn't expect much since I'm not into carnies and such but this book was amazing. It's really hard to put down from the second you start.

Books I've really enjoyed: "First They Killed My Father", "Lucky Child", "A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Solider", "Three Cups of Tea", "The Namesake", "Interpreter of Maladies" (I'm really into books set in India), "Little Children", "Everything is Illuminated", "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close"...

One Fifth by Candace Bushnell
