What do you do for exercise?

Last night I went to a conditioning swim class...which really is a masters class. This morning was a Total Body Workout class...which ended up being a low impact/lower body workout. I use to be very into aquatics & fitness. I taught swimming, was a lifeguard, taught step aerobics ect. So i am trying to get back into an active lifestyle. Hopefully this afternoon before work I will take the dog for a quick walk.

well i am 21 and am just now trying to change my life and get active... I am trying to use our colleges gym three times a week...  i like to jog there, use the elliptical for 30 minutes, and then do free weights for 30 minutes... i don't know if its the greatest routine... but I enjoy it..
well I am 19 and am trying to change too. I go to my college gym and work out with the ellpiticals, treadmills, and assisted weights. Usually twice a week, on Saturday's for a few hours and just an hour on thursdays.
Surely you jest?

Are you using Amazon as a term for fat people?

ahem... cough cough...

what's the difference between that and mac truck or brick house?

Would appreciate it greatly if you changed your title.
Yes, I exercise.

I'm 200+ (weighed in at 222.5 this morning) and have been walking on the treadmill. Now I'm a huge walking fan. Before I began working out regularly, I decided to start slow and steady. 20 mins walking, increasing my time and exertion as days went by.

Yesterday I'm thrilled to say I did a little interval walking/jogging. Nothing spectacular, and not hopping too much, I'm mindful of the joints. I'd switched between fast walking into a jog for a few minutes.

It felt soooo good. I hadn't jogged since highschool (I'm 39). I really didn't think I would be able to do it, but once I started, it was much easier than I thought it would be. At the end of my workout I was on an incredible endorphin high.

I suppose the trick for us 200+ folks is to find an activity that doesn't harm us and we enjoy so we continue exercising. Keep trying different things until you come upon something you enjoy.
I've been exercising for the past 3 weeks...  I am just over 200 lbs bout....lets see... 133 lbs OVER 200!!!!

I walk, jog, do a circuit of weights, or specific lifts depending on the day.

I haven't been riding the bike or doing the eliptical yet.  Working my way into it.  I can;t wait til summer though, my wife's uncle has a pool and we go about every other day, should be fun actually being able to swim laps!!!!

Hello!! I'm 34 and 204 lbs. I started working out Jan. 2 of 2006 starting weight was 291!!

I started out doing the eliptical 30 a day some bike never really liked it and really don't care for the treadmill either but will do it if I have a friend to talk to. Anyway within a month I worked my way up to 45 min. a day and weights everyother day. Then I actually  worked up the nerve to walk into a step class well I go mon.-thurs. classes and sat. mornings(if kids games are later than the workout time). The classes I do are step, cardio combo, step dance, jab attack, total body circuit. Sometimes I also do the eliptical after a class or if I feel like I need to do some weights I'll do that after calss as well.

When I started I never really thought about injuring myself I've always thought that I can do it if I want to and so I just did and SOOOO glad I did!! Good luck everyone!!!
I am currently at 246.  I am walking on the treadmill mostly but I also do some toning/strengthening DVD's and Balance Ball.

When I started I had to remember.......workout at your current fitness level not at the level you want to be.
I am 248 pounds. At my highest I was about 280 pounds. I have the Walk Away The Pounds videos. I use them everyday. I do the 3 mile walk. I love it. It isn't hard on the joints and I can complete the whole thing. I don't have a vehicle so I walk everywhere. Except on weekends where I only have my 2 kids, I usually have 4 kids under 4 years old with me. Anyways, goin off topic. I love to walk. I also have the Tony Little Gazelle, which I hop onto throughout the day when I get a chance and usually an hour at night while I watch my favorite shows on tv. I have tried to lose weight before and I have lots of excercise videos. But I find that the excercises were hard to do and I couldn't do them. Then I would get discouraged and stop trying. The Walk Away The Pounds videos are what keeps me going.
I'll answer though I'm 187, down from 227. Still, that's only 13 lbs from 200.

When I first started out, I did very low impact exercise, like walking on the treadmill, swimming, and elliptical. I worked up to running 3 miles a day for about two years, but then my 45 yo knees said, "You must be joking!!!" and they now refuse to cooperate with running. Fine, said I, be that way, and so I adapted and looked for exercises that would not kill my knees.

I love the elliptical; I tolerate the StairMaster. Spinning is great, as is swimming. I take body toning classes at the Y. Try using free weights and weight machines to tone, tone, tone. Stretch bands are great for resistance and isometric exercise. Hope this gives you some ideas!
I started out at 212lbs on Jan 2/07 of this year.  I have been using a gazelle trainer for 30mins/3days a week, and have this week set a goal of 15miles this week on it (3miles a day/5 days a week).

as of yesterday I am 203lbs.  It's slow.  But the scale IS going down.  Some movement is better than no movement at all.  I say start small, with something you really enjoy doing and go from there.  After awhile it becomes a habit and makes you feel so good!

I'm going to enter the Royal Victoria 8km Marathon in Oct!  What can I say, I love a challenge!
I use a yoga DVD, a Pilates DVD, gentle stretching, walking, and just plain keeping busy, cleaning etc etc...But I can only do 20 minutes of the DVD's at a time...I get really tired fast.

I tried a Billy Banks DVD - OOOO MY GOSH!!!
I almost had a heart attack!

I'm 219 BTW and still trying to lose about 69 more lbs.
I am 218 as of this morning.  I run about 30+ miles per week right now and I am starting a weight training program about 1 hour per week.  I have been running the last 4 years and in the last year I have lost about 20 lbs.  I have got about 18 more to go!  In the 3 years before that, I had lost about 15 lbs. total, but didn't really change my diet until last year.
well im 226lb and i can safly jog for 15 mins that usually turns out to be 2 miles. i go tot he gym 2-3 times a week adn work out at my max for 1 1/2 so fat people can exercise and really should..

i look at it as the more exercise i do the quicker i can stop restricting myself the more cals u burn off the more you can eat esentially. but i try not to look at it like that or it wont be worth sweating for..
When I first started dieting I was 202lbs - I started out by walking.  It took all my effort to just walk around the block.  After a few months I was up to a 2 miles a day and looking for hilly routes and even started jogging a bit.  I lost 55 lbs in about 4 months.

Right now, I'm at 200, after being at 215(ish) in august.

I've been going to the gym pretty much everyday since I started college, doing weight training and cardio in a small gym near the dorms. Now that I have a car, I can access the rec center, which is much, much nicer. :D Also, I have ballet twice a week for an hour and a half, and have gained a lot of muscle, especially in my legs, from that. I couldnt even do 15 plies in a row when I started, and had about zero flexibility. Now, i'm really flexible, obviously not as much as some of the people in the class who have been dancing forever, but the instructor doesnt let us give up, which is a really good thing, although I sometimes come out of that class with my legs feeling like boiled spaghetti. But sometimes boiled spaghetti is good. er, yeah. :)

Seeing as I havent really exercised since I quit playing softball 5 years ago, its nice to get back into a normal routine.
