Beautiful Amazon's over 200

Quote  |  Reply
Hello & Happy New Year!
After having read many posts written by women with similar body types and weight goals as mine I thought it might be fun to start a thread of communication dedicated to women over 5'5" and over 200 pounds.
I am 5'7" & as of last Sunday currently weighing in at 212lbs. My goal is to reach 175lbs by September and would love to share this journey with other gals who are committed to healthy weight loss. Who's game?

Hello everyone. This thread is great. I am 5'11" and currently weigh 185 lbs. In the past three months I've gained over 20 pounds and my diet and exercise have been poor. I hope to weigh about 140-150 when I'm finished with this.
Hey lovely ladies! I fit in here as well!

I'm 5'10" and weighed in this morning at 211.8. I started out at 278, so I've lost a grand total of 66.2 lbs. I'm looking to get down to about 150 by the end of the year.

I look forward to getting to know you all! :)

Kirsten
Hi.  I'm 5'10' and 240 lbs as of Saturday.  I started out at 299.8 at the end of June and the panic of seeing 300 immediately put me on a diet.  So I've lost 59 lbs so far.  My goal is similar to you all's, I want to see a number in the *one's* so to speak.

Ironic, when I was younger houses cost in the 100's and I weighed in the 100's.  Now both have inflated to the 200's.  LOL  I feel so much better now it's amazing and I do look much better too.  I want more though, I want to be amazingly different looking by summer.   If you look at my profile I have my wedding picture there and I really want to get back to that weight, I think it was about 180 to 185.

Oh, and my dh doesn't know my weight either.  He knows I'm over 200, that's fairly obvious from looking at me.  He usually guesses 20 lbs lighter than what I am, that whole "carry it well" thing I suppose.
Hurrah! Finally! I'm 5'7" and 212 pounds. Like Meghan, I'm not looking to get really skinny. I'd like to keep my curvy figure while maintaining a more healthy bmi. I'm fairly large framed so I think 160 is an ideal goal for me. I also have the same support from my boyfriend. He loves that I'm making healthy decisions but he doesn't want me to lose too much weight because he likes a thicker frame.
Hey, how is everyone doing today? I am still feeling so good and motivated. Yesterday I stayed around 1800ish calories and had a good workout, a 3000 calorie burning day. That seems to be my typical weekday deal because I workout I get my calorie burning number up there. Weekends arent the same since I usually dont workout. I am a little concerned with my 1000+ calorie deficit on most days that I am sending my body into 'starvation mode' but I really do eat a lot and dont feel hungry...most of my deficit is because of the exercise. I guess if I stop losing weight then I will worry the deficit is too high, I think right now it is really good. I noticed some of the people who have written have already been losing weight, that is awesome, and very motivating for me. Twindaze..I couldnt see any pictures...not sure why? Well, hope everyone is having a great day.

Lauren
I need to be in on this. I am 5'9" 227lbs. I lost 40lbs then quit counting calories in October. Since today is my first day counting calories again I don't have anything to report. I had a breast reduction 4 weeks ago and can't exercise yet, but I really want to get back on track to get to my goal weight.

It amazes me how easy it is to fall back into old habits and patterns without trying, but getting back to a newly developed habit is quite difficult.

Keep up the good work, we can do this! I want to look decent in a swimsuit this summer!!
Welcome to all you new Amazons! :o)

This is so great, I am really looking forward to getting to know you all as we push through the *two's*.

Yesterday was a hard day for me. I had a beastly craving for sugar most of the day. By some stroke of luck I was able to (sort of) satisfy it with two big oranges and stay away from the evil tub of frosting calling my name from the pantry... I should just throw that out.  Anyhoo, small steps & big wins, right?

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Raspberry, I saw your new thread about exercise, but thought I'd respond here for consistency (for me,following one thread is easier than two).

I usually do about 40minutes on the elliptical & a mile,or so, on the tread mill for aerobic exercise and do a lot of yoga, weight training & pilates for toning the jiggly bits. My knees are shot from soccer so I have to keep the aerobic stuff pretty low/non-impact or I won't be able to bend them the next morning.

By the by, does anyone here have knee problems who can recommend a good brace?

I do aerobics, walking and machines at the gym.  I haven't been doing a lot of weights, but I'd like to once I have more time.  I've been bad for awhile and only doing 2 or even 1 workouts per week.  I need to get back to 3 at least.

Good afternoon everyone!

I was wondering if anyone has a bowflex treadclimer?  I have one and have been using it for 2 months now and it doesn't seem to be helping as well as if i was just using a treadmill!
Can anyone tell me if i'm doing something wrong?

Thanks
Today is my official weigh in day since I started on a Wednesday. Anyhow, the first 2 weeks I am down 8lbs!! I know this trend wont continue but I am extremely encouraged by this start. Just yesterday I went back and changed my activity level choice to sedentary from light because I worried I was giving myself too much credit for activity level but this morning I went back and changed it because apparently it is working. I dont want to 'trick' myself into eating too few calories by seeing a very low number on my account home page.

Lauren
Great news Lauren! Congratulations~!
You're right, 4lbs a week is hard to keep up, but it feels really good doesn't it?  Keep up the good work, that goes for all of us.

See you tomorrow.

Calories: 1,011 (missed lunch...)
Workout: 35 minutes on elliptical, 1 mile on treadmill & a yoga class.

I can't believe I'm seeing Amazon in another title here.  Are you joking?  Are you using Amazon as a term for fat people? It's the same as calling a woman a mac truck or brick house?

Where I come from it's as bad as and the same as a racist slur.  Very Insulting!!!

Please stop using this word... and please change the title...

Hi all,

I'll play!!

I am 5'8" and today weigh 205.5 ( average weekly weight for the last week is 206.2) and my goal is 180 ( MAYBE lower , but I doubt it).I'm 52

My highest weight was 320 , I had adjustable gastric banding 2 years ago , does that disqualify me? I hope not , cause this is and always will be a struggle and a LOT of work.

Best wishes to all.

This is my first post and I have just found this site...looking forward to getting to know you.
hi everyone.. im new here and just like you girls.. im tall and heavy.

im 5'7 and 224lb my goal is about 190 and i have to do it by 17th of march as im getting married lol and i need to be able to fit into my dress and not have to look ive been poured in and forgot to say stop..my dress is Uk size 18 and im at Uk size 16 at the moment (goal is to have to have the dress taken in)

i have done quite well since march ive lost almost 2 1/2 stone so just another 2 to go and i will be at my goal, i try to work out every day for atleast 30 mins. and i really think the key to losing weight healthly and quickly is to work out. i know its boring and if we all enjoyed working out we wouldnt be this big but if you push yourself just a little each day just to work up a sweat then you are definatly well on the way to losing extra. remember the more you burn off the quicker it will come off and the less time you will have to eat salads.. lol.. good luck

p.s when i started working out i would get out of breath just walking.. and by pushing myself i can now jog 2 miles.

 x lisa.
I just found something that satisfies my intense sweet cravings. Dates !!!!... They are so sweet and yes, high in calories. But just a couple really cures that sweet craving and they are even healthy. They might work for you too.
GREETINGS

I'm not sure if being 5'7" and 249 makes me fit in here, but i'm liking you ladies so you are stuck with me LOL

My goal is also 175, goal date is August for my 20 yr class reunion...

I'm more concerned with how I look naked than a weight or a dress size.....when the rolls go away, I'll be tickled...

Just started two weeks ago and have been trying to fit the exercise thing in my schedule somewhere...

Any suggestions?
This is my kind of crowd!  I'm 5'7" and started at 208.  I'm now at 204 (after 2 weeks) and I feel like it is the biggest 4 lbs. I've ever lost!

I am so glad to have others like me to listen to.  It is so hard for me, just starting and wanting it to fall off because I am trying so hard.  Coming here everyday reminds me that I am right on track and this is going to take consistancy and time.

Long term goal is 140's.  Short term goal is Easter weekend.  My parents 50th wedding anniversary and I want to look my best for pictures!  That would be 182 and at least a dress size!
Need2lose, where I come from the term "Amazon" refers simply to tall, beautiful women. It has nothing to do with weight, neither is it considered an insult.
Webster's defines it as a noun meanining "A Tall, Strong and Athletic woman".
I hope that most people would agree that creating a thread with a derogatory title is never an intention. This goes to show how differently words can be interpreted.
You'll notice that the moderators have seen your comment and changed the title.

Welcome Kitten! :o)

A suggestion that I got when I first started trying to fit exercise into my life was "get it over first thing in the morning".

I've found it to be priceless advice, not only do I have more energy for the day but I don't have to think about it all day because it's over!

Morning workouts definitely work for me. Good Luck!
