Beautiful Bodies
I know everyone has a different body type. And we should have some sort of pride in ours. No body type is perfect, regardless of what the media or Hollywood portrays. There are simply different styles or builts of bodies, and whatever the media chooses to portray as glamourous, many of our minds automatically find perfect, although there is no such thing. Look at Marilyn Monroe. She was a very curvacious lady. But then look at Audrey Hepburn. A pretty petite gal. No such thing as an ugly body, just different types of beauties. Well my body type is definitely different than the rest. I'm 5'4" with really really long legs and a pretty short torso. My arms are really long too. I'm pretty flat in the chest, but I got a nice behind. And my waist is pretty big although my thighs look very slim. But my calfs are fat and so are my arms. Lets not talk about my waist...its wide and that's immediately where all my fat goes. But my collar bones are basically popping out. Well thats me. So feel free to describe yourself and tell why you like your body. Everyone has at least one thing they like. So come on! Remember, beauty is in the eye of the Beholder.
I'll describe myself. :) I'm a total pear in the fact that the top half of me has bones sticking out while the bottom half is wallowing in fat. I gain in my thighs the most, and maybe stomach second most, although a lot of that might be inflammation.
I have a kick ass hour glass waist which I've always been proud of, and when my breasts are their normal B cup I love them lots. I just don't love them shrinking when my thighs just sit there and jiggle.
I've lost a little of the allure my long, long legs have, but I still like them saddle bags not withstanding. They've lasted me through many sports.
I like my body, the scars and pockmarks and internal bleeding problems not-withstanding.
Thanks for sharing :) Love the descriptions. I think telling people and showing them that no "body" is perfect, but that there are both positive and negative things we all have, shows people and motivates them to lose weight the healthy way. Believe me, I need to lose a lot of weight, but I've just come to conclusion that no "body" is perfect. ;)
being an under-developed teen (stunted by the devil ED as well) i can't say im 'normal' either, or what i may be in my complete form, but for now im disproportionate.
i LOVE my legs, they are'nt skinny nor fat, rather toned, and going up to my butt is fine too.
But heading around to my stomach, theres this pooch, im not particularly pear shaped either. bloating is just what my body is.
my rib cage is pretty wide, covered by like a layer of pure fat, which wasnt there when i had my ED, so im proud for it to be there :P a wasit of 29inch then 33 hip is a bit....apple, but its not unhealthy, its just ME!
my boobs are....developing, but at least they're there! and they're pretty good too :P
turning over, up from mah butt over my back, is really, not curvy, but just a sexy shape, as you can see i prefer my back haf of my body - legs, butt, back.
i back like no muscle anywhere particularly (other than my legs), my arms are the worst, they are flabby, but not, big, they are normal sized, just unproportioned, there is muscle, just not alot. (ive had friends say i 'have like no muscle' but that was like my buff guy friend, so i dont know)
fore-arms have decent muscle with minimal fat, by hands are interesting. all my friends say how bony it is in particular my palm which supposedly should be puffy and fat, but ligaments or bones or something can be felt, as they can all over, and in comparison i notice they are bigger in structure than my friends too.
now, only ONE of my collar bones protude, the other one...like doesnt, i guess that supports the 'no ones two hands are exactly cell for cell the same' (like i mean one boob is bigger than the other lol) my neck is a little chubby, my face is fine....
i have bones in my feet showing too. I put my body down to being disproportionate, my body is using fat to protect its organs :) with the bony hands, collar bone and feet, i do get pretty cold, never from waist to ankles though, just feet, hands and upper body, where i have less fat.
to be honest id appreciate fat over my bony parts, but for it to come from my waistline :P but you cant have the 'perfect' body you want, just love yourself as you come! I'm a big build looking at my parents, not curveous, just big-boned and...very...disporportioned. but people love me for who i am, why should changing myself be a goal anyway?
sorry, double-post
This is really interesting, creative post. You're definitely correct; every one of us is beautiful and much of our beauty lies in that we're different. =]
I have a relatively petite body, 5'2" and about 110 pounds, and I'm unsure of the definition of my body shape as I've never measured my proportions. However, I think I have an hourglass shape; despite my history of disordered eating and my smallish frame, I have womanly curves. My boyfriend says that the only fat I have is in all the right places ;] Which is definitely not true, but he's the only person who knows about my weight struggles and he gives 100% when it comes to support =] I have 34B breasts, which I wish were a size or two larger, and well-defined hips. My waist is small and my stomach, my favorite part of my body, is relatively flat. My arms are a little large for my desired body, but they allow me to do so much and I appreciate the fact that I have them. I like my legs, even though I would prefer smaller thighs. I'm about as pale as a ghost and I'm nowhere near toned or muscular, but I'm able to appreciate my body the way it is, and stop dwelling on the aspects I can't change. It's a good feeling to accept oneself and to stop criticizing every little detail =]
Nice idea for a post!
I'm 5'7", 210ish, and I like my long neck and long legs. I also think I have a great smile and really strong thighs. (I can do like 145lb on those nautilus machines that you push the weight in/out with your thighs
) I have loose skin in a few places from losing so much weight after having my daughter, but I'm pretty happy with the rest of me.
Yes, yes. Fantastic idea!
I'm 5ft8 and I'm 188lbs at the moment, with a large frame. I have the fortune of being very well proportioned, so I gain and lose weight evenly. I am hour-glass and, in true mesomorph fashion, rather well-muscled and compact despite the extra weight. I also gain muscle really quickly. I've done two weeks of weight training and I'm already seeing very significant definition on my arms (it's scary).
If you need a visual, think of a slightly overweight Lucy Lawless.
My favourite body parts are my legs, butt and waist. Despite being a little flabby at the moment, I like the fact that my gams are long, my waist is cut and my butt can still look bootylicious in a pair of jeans.
What I don't like is the one thing I can't change. My shoulders are wide, and I feel like an Amazon sometimes.
The rest I know I will be extremely happy with once I get myself down to size :)
Great topic!
I love my legs, even though they are short. I love them because they are muscular, and my fiance loves muscular legs. :) I have great definition on my calves, which are 13.5 inches in circumference. I am also the rare woman who LIKES MY THIGHS, lol. They are 20 inches in circumference, but the quads have great muscle tone, and even the hamstrings are getting toned too as I increase the variety of leg exercises I do.
I like having something of a bubble butt. I have a fairly average breast size, and my waist isn't really where I'd prefer it to be, but my butt gives me more curves. I've heard people say that having my waist-hip ratio at 0.78 is too masculine, but no one mistakes me for a male in person thanks to that butt, lol. (Well, the breasts are also a giveaway as to my gender, but the butt helps also.)
My weight is also at a place I like. I seem to feel best in the 110-115 range (I'm 5'1½"). The stomach can use more toning, but I am working on that.
Though I don't think about them as much, I am also happy with my arms. My forearms are slender, yet my biceps and triceps are very strong for a woman my size. I can curl 35 pounds eight straight times in one sitting, and I can do 60 pounds eight times on a tricep machine.
I have the tiniest hands of anyone I know. They are so cute and small. I also have small feet, and am glad to have them that way.
And even though it's apparently a health risk, I actually LIKE having narrow hips. I'd rather have my waist reduced to meet the "preferred" waist-hip ratio rather than expand my hips while keeping the waist the same.
Very skinny arms and legs. I am tall checking in at 5'7'' with a 34D size up top. Thing is, when I gain or even get bloated the most of it goes right to the middle making me look pregnant every time. Otherwise, no worries.
I'm going to try and be as positive as I can here;
okay, so I'm 5'1 and the last time I was weighed [a couple of weeks ago] I was 90lbs -> but I'm trying to gain and recover from an eating disorder
I have VERY long legs, I have friends that are 5'4 and 5'5 and have the same length legs as me. My calves are very toned and I don't mind my thighs too much [except for my inner thighs, bleh].
My butt is pretty sloppy at the moment [as in, not toned], but hopefully once I'm weight restored it will be a little more toned and firm haha
I've got a tiny waist, except my stomach gets super bloated after every meal so I feel like a bit of a 'melon on sticks'. My hips are one of the first places where fat goes, so I don't look like a 10 year old anymore :D
My boobs... lets just say there isn't much there, but hopefully my weight will slowly distribute and I will get something there xD
My arms are pretty much twigs :( but I have started lifting weights [to increase my bone density and gain muscle] and slowly but surely, they are getting stronger!
great thread!
wow, skippinggirlvinegar you just described my body to a tee! Except I'm 5'4 and the booty is finally starting to um...pump out lol! d/w it'll happen just keep gaining :)
Love it!
I'm 5'4, 240 lbs.
I have a crazy exaggerated hourglass shape (So, needless to say, I love my awesome cleavage). My favorite thing is that even super-overweight, My figure doesn't change, and I still like it (I just want a smaller version of it :)
I have short stocky legs but a longer torso, so my waist usually looks pretty trim, and even slender, my legs look strong and powerful (though a bit short). I love my shoulders and back, because they look toned no matter what I'm doing or how much I weigh (they are my constants).
Mostly, I like my body, I'd just prefer it shrink a bit : )
5' 3" 130lbs, hourglass..always have been, even at 108lbs (once). I have never had any complaints!![]()
ooh this is cool!
so just trying to gain a little more im at about 105 at 5'4"
i deffinitly have a pear shaped body because whenever i gain it goes straight to my butt and hips. i love love love my stomach because its always been very flat, its just not where i gain weight. i love how my thighs and butt are nice and toned, which i didnt have during my eating disorder. i wish my boobs were bigger im only a small A right now but eh, what can ya do. and my arms are getting stronger though theyve always been very slender and not very toned.
overall i think my ideal is to be nice and toned and healthy looking; meaning having some fat on my body and look athletic and strong :)
I'm 5'4", 120. I have pretty long legs for being only 5'4", and pretty toned legs. I have really nice toned arms and biceps that can impress my guy friends, which I'm proud of! My boobs are a good size for my frame but are a little uneven (righty is a bit bigger than lefty). My butt is also a good size for my frame. My waist is pretty small but tends to be a little flabby. My shoulders are somewhat broad which makes my torso look even shorter.
My body can't get any weirder. Usually hips are bigger than the bust, but not in my case. My bust is a 37in. with hips of 34.5in. My waist is 30in. as well. When you look at me, you wouldn't think the number jumps would be noticeable. It's hard for me to go shopping because my body type is so weird. I usually have to buy a size bigger than I normally would just because of my bust. Jeans are also a joy to buy. Finding the right size and right style/fit is the best part (note the sarcasm) :( Since I'm losing weight, I feel like I've lost my butt. (haha) I need to tone that up a bit.. I'm fine with my waist though it can be a bit smaller and less flabby. I have that little "pouch" instead of a flat "chub" stomach. So annoying and embarrassing in a swim suit.. :(
my shoulders! i took them for granted for years, even tho i kind of knew they were good. i kept complaining about my pear shape, then one day i took a serious look in the mirror (after looking at some other people) and saw that my shoulders greatly help to balance my pear shape.
when i was at a higher body fat percentage my boobs looked pretty good, but normally when im thin they are kind of small. not flat or anything but small. anyway as i get older & start putting on some more muscle, they have remained nice and perky/good shape & sit on a nice frame of muscle.
my waist was normally pretty wasp but its changing. just look at how britney spears was when she was a teenager to when she got older, not the fatter britney but the very toned (altho that word isn't correct) britney. this has been a recent development in the last 6 or so months for me. im not complaining about the added muscle, in fact i think britney looked better when she got older but still, its hard to see the wasp-ness go on myself.
but the last 6 months, my butt looks so much better when i bend over too.
It's interesting to see just how many body shapes are out there - measurements, BMI, waist-hip ratio, etc. couldn't possibly cover all these descriptions. :)
octo's post reminded me that I forgot my shoulders..I like my shoulders as they are not slopey but more coat-hanger-like, which I enjoy.
I've always been small & petite (i mean small-framed and short, not necessarily weight-wise lol), and now I'm around 105 and 5'3" (i just recently grew an inch, i was stuck at 5'1.5"-5'2" for YEARS), and i'm upping my cals.
I like the fact that though I'm pretty thin, I still have a pretty good hourglass/pear shape. I like my small boobs (though they're a hassle during bathing suit season), since they're proportionate with the rest of my top-half. I like how even though my butt is small, I can still accentuate it with the right jeans and it looks good in my clothes.
I love my toned legs from running, dance, and soccer, and how muscular they look when i stand on my toes. also, I really enjoy the fact that I'm short but still need to buy some "long torso" clothes, it makes me feel unique (short legs from my dad, long torso from mom). and i like my arms that have a little muscle, but still a little bit of fat on them
I am tall and powerful. Mostly legs, round rump, small waist, slim upper body, smaller breasts, good arms and shoulders. I tend toward thunder thighs when I'm in a heavy phase. Right now I am 5'10" and about 150, which is a good place for me ... any thinner and the rump starts to deflate, and I like it "at attention."
