Two months ago, I stopped drinking Beer in the expectation that forgoing three or four beers daily would enable me to drop a few pounds.
I was wrong. No drop in weight whatsoever.
Has anyone else had this kind of a dissapointing experience in climbing onto the Wagon?

Well, surprisingly, beer doesn't seem to make much of difference for me as well. I lost about 20 lbs during a summer when I drank a few beers almost every night. It is more about lifestyle, eating correctly and exercising. I was going to the gym a lot, and watching what I was eating, trying to take in less fat and carbs. But I drank a few beers, maybe 2 a night, and more on weekends. But, it didn't seem to hurt my results. But I was also really pushing it at the gym and drinking protein shakes and cutting my meal sizes in half.
Perhaps try changing your diet as well, drinking protien shakes and cutting back on snack foods and carbs. Also, you don't have to go cold turkey, you can try light beers (I know, I know) and keep yourself happy. If you are happy, it is easier to keep motivated.

Just cutting out beer is not going to cause you to loose weight on the scale. YES It is much better for you to cut out the beer but you have to make an effort in other areas of your life too. You really should be cutting calories, eating healthier, and also doing some exercise.
Remember for every 3500 calories you burn you lose 1lb of body fat. Now in order to lose 1-2 lbs a week you should be eating less calories, exercising more to get that weight off.
Good luck to you!

Have you replaced the beer with soda or maybe even snacks? this might be the reason..?
Hi, I am new at this. So you don't think that drinking a few beers a night will hurt during your diet.
I really don't want to go on the Wagon!!!

Having three or four bottles of beer daily seems like a negative influence on what you are trying to accomplish. If your goal is striclty to lose weight, then you are right and the beer probably will slow down the process of losing the weight, not halt it completely.
BUT, if your intention is to realize a better lifestyle by streamlining your eating and exercise habits then the beer could become the crutch. Meaning that instead of a grilled cheese sandwich you might decide a beer will cure the crave. Be careful! Beer, wine and other such beverages are full of unnecessary calories.

Hey, for what it's worth, I find for me I'm better off not drinking any alcohol of any type regularly. I quit drinking altogather for 5 years. When I picked it up again, I noticed I was a more sensitive to it than before. I even tried 2 to 3 beers a day to get aclimated again, but no good. I really enjoy a beer or two (alot more than that I i'm up to it) but it's lingereing effects are always bad for me. For some reason my body does not deal with it well even in small amounts. I drink now on special occasions, but not every day. I did notice when I quit for five years that those absence of extra calories really made a difference in weight loss and I felt so much better. I'd drank beer/wine/distilled spirits everyday for so long that when I abstained for a long time I was amazed how well I felt. But we are all different. Have a few for me! Cheers!

Yeppers, alcohol has 7 empty calories per gram. Empty as in no nutritional value whatsoever. However - I believe all things in moderation!!!
