Hello :)

So since I started CC, I had decided to stay away if possible of alcohol... but I found myself today with around 350 calories that I can still can consume, so I thought since I was going out to see some stand up comedy... I already ate dinner, why not have a drink there? So I was trying to figure out what is the healthiest or well... least damaging thing I can drink? hehehe Here are the options:

- Beers (Either Heineken, Corona, Becks, or sucky Italian beer like Moretti, Nastro Azurro) I don't know how much it can vary from brand to brand

- Screwdriver: Vodka and Orange Juice

- Cuba Libre: Rhum and Coke

Or if you have any other suggestions, I'm always open to try new things :)

Thanks in advance!

If I had 350 cals to blow on alcohol, I'd probably splurge and get a couple of really good martinis.  If I had the $$, some really good tequila.

Although I still really like the combo of Southern Comfort and cranberry juice.

(Be careful of mixers - they pack in a lot of sugar.  If you're going to try any (sweet-n-sour, etc.) the bar might have sugar free versions.

As to the least damaging - a couple of beers will only set you back by about 250-280 cals.

Wine is always easy. Yes...any mixed drink can add extra calories because of sugar, etc. Plain martini's are good. The newer "fancy" martinis are also suspect with juices, etc added. Micelob Ultra is a good beer if going that route.

Vino!  My fav, a few glasses once in a while actually has the benefits of anti oxidents too.. a 4 oz glass is about 80 cals..  (most places give you more than 4 oz though)

Cals wise.. rum or vodka with diet coke is probably the lowest.  I would stay away from sugary cocktails like screw drivers, they can pack more cals than you think.. A martini wouldn't be bad either, I usually get a dirty one, its just vodka, ice, vermouth and olive juice... yum.  I'd skip the beer, it makes me bloated, but thats just me.  There are light/low carb options usually so if you feel like a beer you could go for that.

bourbon on the rocks.  90 calories/shot, and i can sip that baby for two hours ;)

skinny b*tch - vodka/diet coke

skinny white b*tch - vanilla vodka/diet coke

I like to spend some cals on some *really* good scotch, but I love the Skinny White Bitch. Too funny!

Just a quick note, though. Alcohol is a systemic depressant and it can slow down the progress of your weight loss. Speaking from personal experience.

No worries, tho. If you're looking for a quick buzz, anything alcoholic with anything fizzy. The carbonation speeds up the uptake of alcohol. ;-)

screwdrivers are only as sugary as the orange juice that goes into them. And who's gonna tell you that orange juice is unhealthy... I prefer fuzzy navels over screwdrivers (peach schnapps instead of vodka, there's a hairy navel with vodka and schnapps too). Or I really like white russians (milk and vodka, sometimes with kahlua) or some variation of that. Actually, I got a white russian last time I went to a comedy club.

Was white russian made with fat free milk? Tongue out I just find the concept hillarious. :)

I would opt for a beer, but good one not the light stuff. More volume so you can enjoy it longer.

Personally only other beverages I like are Mai Tai, and Absinthe.

I actually like THE MGD 64 ( Miller Genuine Draft Light) it only has 64 cals and like 2.4 carbs per 12oz.

I have actually found someplace local that has it on tap!!! woohoo!!!

The fact that a bar would waste tap space on MGD 64 makes me die a little inside.

If you want to stay away from sugar, thus calories...

vodka and soda water with twist of lemon and/or

my personal favourite:

gin and tonic with a twist of lime :-)

A killer in mixed drinks is the calories in the soda pop and juices! Now that I drink these, I can't stand mixed drinks with anything other than soda water or tonic water.

Beer makes me bloat :-( and is high in calories (sugars from malt, hops, barley or whatever it may be).

Vodka water lime - 56 calories.......

you use up 100 calories on cola/oj etc.  dark alcohol has twice as many calories...and bear has twice as much....

I'll second kaila but trade water for club soda. Also, some of the flavored vodkas have extra sugar in them but some of them don't; they are just flavor.  So I'd opt for one of those, I believe Absolute and Skyy don't have added sweetner (I could be wrong about the Skyy) but an Absolute Pears with clubsoda and a twist of lime is AMAZING.  OMG I want one now lol.  If you need it a bit sweet, ask for just a splash of cranberry and add on 10 calories.  With 350 calories, you can drink them all night, and when you want to cut back (and if you're around friends who would think "less" of you for cutting back) you can just slip into drinking just club soda with a splash of cran and twist of lime.
