I am begining to think dairy is the devil!
Yeah so I love dairy..and I have cut back considerably. So I was starting to think maybe I should eat yogurt for the calcium...bad decision. I think besides the calories it is causing my face to break out again...had two weeks of good skin. Now after eating yogurt, fat free, yikes my face is in remission! So I think I am gonna cut out dairy except for when I have Mexican. anyone else have this problem? let me know!
Never really noticed an increase in breakouts -- and I'm prone.
I finally decided that dairy is a calorie source I can do without, tho. I love milk, am on a 1200 cal. diet, and found that even skim milk ate up a ton of calories (258) if I drank one cup with each meal which, to me, was always a healthy thing to do. So, until I can allow myself more calories the only dairy I'm having is 1/2c lowfat cottage cheese with fresh fruit for breakfast or a snack. Man, I miss my milk tho!!! ![]()
I think my sister has the same reaction to dairy. She thought it might be from the hormones the cows get, but maybe it's something else
Dairy makes me break out too, so you're not the only one.
Good to know...thanks. I guess I am gonna have to cut out dairy for good. Really sucks because I love cheese and yogurt. I already cut out milk and use soy milk..no problem. Life with out cheese is gonna be bland...
I have the same problem! It doesn't seem to do anything other than give me bad skin, but I stay away from it for the most part. Sometimes it's worth it, though... Like an ice cream cone somewhere.
dairy gives me acne and eczema. it's gross too, when i think about it too hard.
Dairy or no dairy make sure you are getting 100% of your rda of calcium. It helps the body get rid of dietary fat that could otherwise get left in your system!

Dairy is definitely not a good thing to have in a human's diet, especially when you think about all of the hormones, pesticides and mucus that one ingest from consuming dairy farm products. No wonder faces are breaking out. A helpful link: http://www.notmilk.com/z.html
I'm not huge on drinking milk in general - if you think about it, it's baby food (and cow-baby food at that), and it seems like something a person should grow out of once they graduate to solid foods. But that's my snarky reaction to it.
The benefits of drinking milk are generally over-rated (I may catch a lot of flak for it, but I believe it). Basically it's touted as a good source of calcium - but so is broccoli, or spinach, or about a million other easy and convenient foods that also add in things like fiber, or iron, and with a lot fewer calories.
I know some people love milk - I love ice cream, and I love cheese, so I'm not saying milk-products are evil. Truthfully, I'm usually quite the foodie, so having unusual or interesting ingredients is usually a plus when I'm cooking. But that's my problem in a nutshell - milk should be an ingredient, not a main part of a meal. It feels much the same to me as if someone decided to sit down with a cup of flour, rather than eating a couple slices of bread.
The thing is, now, I haven't drank milk on a regular basis in years. And now when I try to... well, the results are usually unpleasant at best XD
Also keep in mind, what people usually have a reaction to is lactose - and generally the less fat a milk product has, the higher it is in lactose. The lactose isn't stored in the fat, so if you take out the fat, what's left is the "filler", and that can cause some stomach issues along with skin issues.
I went on a milk-rant there... didn't even know I had it in me. Most of it, though, really stems from my attitude in the first paragraph - why would I eat baby food?
I don't think it's really fair to generalize about dairy that way, tinyvegan. There are studies that show a lot of benefits from dairy. And really, there's hormones and pesticides in everything we eat, even vegetables!
To the OP, have you tried any of the organic dairy products? If you like cheese and yogurt, it might be worth it to see if a little organic cheese/yogurt every once in a while wouldn't hurt. Just a thought...
I am glad you are starting to think it is the devil because it is!!!!!! Step away from the dairy aisle - and that ice cream: Oh No You Don't! ha ha!
