Both have a lot of good information.
Then use the tools on CC or the calculator at www.phord.com/cc (I prefer the latter), to help figure out how many calories you should eat.
Sometimes before starting out on a journey it's a good idea to find out where you are.
I'd recommend a week where, rather than change anything, you record everything (food and activity in the logs). Knowing what you are doing and measuring (weighing if possible) what you eat will help you to see where you can make some easy changes (trying to do everything at once or too quickly can be a reason to give up at the start).
Also take measurements, waist, hips, arms and thighs. It's really great to see the inches come off even when your weight gets stuck.
Agree with the above. A few tips to keep in mind:
1. Remember that calorie counting is a life style change NOT A DIET
2. Watching what you eat is the most important aspect of losing weight...it contributes to about 80% of weight loss, whereas workin out is about 20%, nonetheless, you need both.
3. If you are CC'ing, please make sure you keep track of everything. EVERYTHING. A few years ago, I tried losing weight and couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing. It's because I wasn't counting what I was eating, properly. Check the labels to make sure you've got the serving size right.
4. Watch what you are eating. If your calorie intake says you should take in 1700 calories a day, for example, don't eat the 1700 calories at mcdonalds. that is NOT healthy.
5. Try to have 5 to 6 small meals a day. CC has some great posts under recipes. Check those out to help you with good meals.
6. We're all here to help you. So if you need advice on ANYTHING, please post something.
Good luck. I'm sure you'll be successful.
Make small changes a bit at a time. You can fine tune later. Walk a bit more and find some healthy food you enjoy to eat. Don't think of it as dieting. If you can't cook - I reckon learning to cook is the single best thing you can do for you health and happiness when it comes to weight loss.
Good luck!
Thank you every one.
The thing I have tried calories counting, I have tried different diets, I have tried working out. But my scale won't budge from 92.2 kgs.
Therefore I thought I will start all over again. Can someone please recommend a diet that works fast and is consistent as well.
What do you consider "fast"? 1-2lb per week is the recommended speed of weight loss. If you are looking to lose faster than that, that would not be considered healthy, and really isn't what this site is for.
Look at the links I provided above. The Weightloss Forum one has a link in it for the "New Calorie Count Diet". That's pretty much what we do here - figure out how much you burn, eat ~500 calories less than that.
thanks a lot. I will do my reading and ask if there are any confusions. Looking forward to your continuing support!!

I agree with the above.
Will it be too much of a nuisance if I share what I eat and do for next seven days? That will essentially help me to share it all and get the required help if I am losing track or going the wrong direction.
You could post in a thread where others do that too - such as this one.

One of the best suggestions I ever read...You'd be surprised how much garbage and/or stuff you don't really like that you eat anyway.
How come I’m not losing weight?
Your workout routine is commendable but you are eating too many calories to lose weight. 1500-1700 calories a day is more like a maintenance... Read more
