Behold!! The Answer to the SHOWER mystery!!

Quote  |  Reply

We've all seen the Post (Why do you weigh less after a shower?)

because you are Warmer!!! WOOO HOOO

Back in School if any of you took Chemistry you might remember that they always said to let objects cool to room temperature Before you weigh them.

I never knew Why... BUT This link below explains it well!

woot!  good job.  Now i can take showering out of my fitness routine!
That is AWESOME! I was so curious!!! Thanks lilsmiter for doing the research!
Are you kidding me?  I don't remember jack from my science classes except how to make mud and I find this fascinating.
Good try, but I'm thinkin' you cannot be more than a few degrees warmer, certainly not enough to effect the thermodynamics of your bathroom...just sayin'...

Ok then Kathy McSmarty pants... Why? Cool

Besides it doesn't effect thermodynamics, it effects air currents.

Hahaha! Last night before my shower I weighed, and after my shower weighed to see what you guys were talking about....

And I was 2 pounds lighter. Weeeeiiiiiiirrrrrdddd!!!!!

Or better yet take a cold shower and see if you weigh more.

Take your tempature...do you have any of those instant read thermos like you use on babies...

GET NErDY!

hee hee

I am going to try this out tomorrow. (no therm though)
I don't know why...but I think it has something to do with the calories burned in racing past the mirror in order to avoid seeing yourself naked..;)

thanks.  I was thinking some people just sweat a lot in the shower.  This makes much more sense.

bwahahahahah XD that made my day!

I wish I could believe that, because it would take this question out of my head.  Some people show a 2lb difference after the shower!  That means by being warmer you are creating enough air movement to create 2lb of lift!?  I have a hard time believing that.

At the same time, 2lb of water is about 30.7 fl oz.  That seems like a little too much to sweat (or pee)

This is going to take some scientific investigation...   Tongue out

I didn't read all of the posts to the original question, but I think someone is pissing in the shower and not admitting it.  That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

^^ I like her

bwa ha ha HAAAAAAAAAAW

Test your theory: take an hour to cool off without eating, drinking, or going to the bathroom and weigh yourself again. your weight should go up at least a little in an hour if temperature is to blame.

All I can say is I'm going to weigh after showering from now on!!
LOL I would love to weight less after the shower but I alway's weigh more....I think it's because of all the water in my behind length thick hair......but also just a thought....are your scales in the bathroom...it also makes the bathroom warmer especially if you have a heat light on as well as a really hot shower.....also I noticed my scale weighs differently if it's really cold....maybe?
HA -- That is so interesting and answers another question I had.  I noticed my weight changed by about 3-4lbs in a few days when I weighed myself at the gym (where the scale should be accurate).  This has happened before.  Now that I think about it, when I weighed less, it was post work-out and when I weighted more, it was upon arrival.  I suppose the same theory applies to heating up the body -- in the shower or through exertion.  Very interesting theory -- I thought it was just a big swing in water weight, but maybe there's more to it.  Good to know to try and use the scale at room temp for most consistency.

you are all so funny - and i agree with everything :-)

good reason to stay away from scales methinks
