I cannot BELIEVE I just ate that!
So I just rode my bike back from k-mart. On my way home I thought, I think I'll splurge some of my calories on a shake. So I went over to carl's jr and got a oreo mint shake.
It was okay. Sort of a mediocre dessert.
When I looked it up on the carl's jr website I was just floored. Eight-hundred calories! EIGHT HUNDRED! HOLY CRAP! That's incredible! How could they even PACK that much calories in one thing?!
And then I was looking at all of the other aspects of the shake:
Cal.s from fat- 340
Fat total- 37g
Sat. fat- 25g
Cholesterol- 100mg
Sodium- 350mg
Carbohydrates 102g
Sugars- 83g
*disgusted face*
Eighty-three GRAMS of sugar. Goodness gracious. No wonder carl's jr is so popular. With that much sugar in one drink anyone would become an addict.
yeugh.. I only have 100 calories left in my calorie allowence now. Well atleast I know I won't be going back to carl's jr again.
They put couple scoops of ice cream in to those shakes. I like In-N-Out strawberry milkshakes. Delicious!

Even though you had that shake, you should probably just willingly go over your calorie allotment for the day since it's so early. I would eat bunches of veggies and some lean protein. maybe have a 300 calorie salad that will be really filling. this way you're only ovr by 200 calories and you won't starve. if you restrict too much you'll likely binge tomorrow. it's one day, so just balance it out with your next few meals. I definitely would not allow myself only 100 calories for the rest of the day though.
I remember the first time I looked up the calorie count in a Jack in the Box shake.. I nearly fell over. Its like 1000 or something insane for a small. =/ You really get no mercy when eating fast food.
And honestly going over for a day or two isn't going to kill you. I expected to gain a ton of weight this weekend (2 days of drinking and parties can do that to you) and was really surprised when I weighed in the same this morning after eating nothing remotely good for me over the past 3 days. I'm dehydrated and have been drinking a ton of water too. Even your body will give you breaks sometimes.
Be nice to yourself. Just eat healthy and light the rest of the day, and if you feel you need a little extra food to hold you over, don't deny yourself what your body needs. :)
How they manage to turn an innocent-sounding shake into a monster, I don't know. I used to get chocolate chip cookie dough blizzards all the time when I was younger. When I looked it up a couple years back I think my jaw dropped to the floor. It wasn't so much the calorie count as it was the amount of saturated fat and sugar (probably trans fat to, I don't remember). Relax though, because it was only one day and you probably deserved that treat. You wanted it, you got it, don't regret it. I second Chrissy's idea with the salad. Add some chicken or tuna to it and you're good to go.
Sad thing is, we could probably find ways to make a shake like that at home and it would be so much better. Why don't fast food places try that?

Thank you for the advice. I have some really good lettuce that I bought from trader joe's and some low cal dressing in the fridge. I think I will take you up on that 300 calorie salad.

When I looked it up and found out it was around 1600 calories for a large it BLEW MY MIND. how is that possible!?!
I work at an ice cream restauraunt and generally the shakes we make have at least 4 HUGE scoops of ice cream in it, plus whole milk.
it's not really surprising that it would contain that many, im sure the shakes we sell have closer to a 1000 calories.
its really terribly, honestly. and its even worse working there every day. talk about a healthy food eater's nightmare.

dont feel alone, i was out walking all day at university, probably did 1-2miles of walking trying to find my way around everything and of course my lecture halls,
silly me was so busy yesterday only ended up eating around 900 calories by bed time and felt the pains a lil, and today it was so warm here, i couldnt find water, and i needed something with energy so i went to the closest thing i could find and i drank a whole bottle of Orange Juice with a total of 200 gms of sugar today just in that one bottle. i feel abit silly but i was about to faint from heat and not much calories or water. and now i feel bad, the juice alone added up to 800 calories today!! what can i do? will it throw the lbs back on? will i be able to rid the sugar i mean, i did alot of walking today but not sure that was enough. it was a silly mistake, but i was so weak and faint and made that mistake. what should i do?

It's 800 calories so no you wont gain lbs back. It takes 3500 excess calories to gain 1 lb, just like it takes burning 3500 calories to lose 1lb. Anyways, there's this place here called the Hot Bite. I use to go there for shakes in the summer (theyre only open in the summer) until one day I watched them make a shake.....they use 1/2 a box of ice cream (1/2 gal box) for one shake. I think that's like over 2300 calories for just the ice cream part of the shake not to mention the candy....

You have to just let it go. Dont be upset. Now that you know better you will do better. I ate a Salad from Taco Bell (Dont Ask) thinking it was the best thing on the menu. I look at the calories counter and it had 790 calories. Are you kidding me? It was a little bowl with chicken. I enjoyed it and then started eating good all over again the next day.
