I believe I got my first whistle today!
So I was on my way up the first hill of my 3-miler today, and I passed by some guys doing work on a house. I had my music on full-tilt and I was in my zone, but not enough to hear a whistle! There were some girls down the street and originally I thought the guy was doing it to them, but I was closer and had just passed by. I guess I look better than I think?
It's really weird getting used to the reality that I'm not 245 pounds anymore, you know? People look at me different, and I've noticed that I've been getting more attention from guys. So weird.
Also, I have just recently broke through a frustrating weight barrier. I was only losing a pound or less for the last 2 or 3 weeks, and then all of a sudden...4. Whuzzat? I know some people hit actual plateaus, but I was working so hard and seeing so little!
How did ya'll deal with being smaller? I don't think I will be able to change how I view myself (which is generally positive, but I always see myself as a "big girl".)
I just have to say AWESOME!!!! And keep up the good work!!!
Hey! good for you! I mean...if having a construction workers cat call is a good thing :)
I've had the opposite problem, I've always been at a pretty healthy weight except for the past year or so. Looking back, I looked darn good! Now that I've gained the weight, I sort of miss the cat calls and stares from random guys. I never even thought guys noticed me until I noticed them NOT noticing me, if you know what I mean.
But anyway, more importantly than guy attention is the fact that you are doing so well! I'm working on getting up to three miles myself, so you're inspiration for me!
Thanks, you two! :) I had to brag somewhere, haha.
Oh, I feel you. It's tough because I was small for a very short time years ago, and it's amazing how much more people pay attention to you when you're smaller. It's shocking! I'm sure you'll be back in no time!
Oh, the 3-miler was my long run in my 16-week 10K training program. All I have to say is take your time and take it slow - I went too quickly today and got a stitch!
Nice!
Don't you love that? I've been big all my life and have only like in the last two years start to try to change that. I still am in somewhat of a shock when I'm running down the street and people are looking at me - not because it's weird to see a fat chick run, but because they are checking me out!
Take it as inspiration to make that 10 k! I actually just was able to run a 5K, I'll be moving on to trying to tackle the 10 K soon, I'm soooo excited. Running rocks! <3 :)
Haha, yeah!
Congrats! Maybe two stories will pop up about kicking ass in a 10K in a few months. :P
Keep up all the great work! It sounds like you're making fantastic progress. Try not to be so disheartened about small changes on the scale... Remind yourself that it's still working for you! Just stay focused even a tiny change is good. Those little 1/2 lbs at a time over the course of weeks add up. =-P
