Belly Button Piercing

Quote  |  Reply
Well, my mom is finally allowing me to get my belly button pierced by the end of the summer.

However, I have heard every possible thing about navel piercings imaginable.

I have heard that it hurts, but I have also heard that you only feel a pinch.

Also, I have been told that the amount of pain you feel has to do with the amount of fat or chub you carry on your stomach.

Can anybody out there with a bellybutton piercing help me out? :]

The piercing itself didn't seem so painful to me, but the healing part was brutal.  It takes months, and mine took a bit longer because of a couple infections I got.

But, that was, oh, almost 9 years ago...  Lower rise pants weren't really out yet, and part of my problem was having the waistline of my pants hit right at the belly button.  Had I worn lower rise pants I think the problems would have been solved, as I did a good job of keeping it clean.

Good luck!  I still have mine, and don't regret it one bit, after all this time.  :)
Thankyou :)
just make sure you do your research when it comes to tattoo parlors. i got mine done about a month ago and it's fine. i love it.
well the retard that did mine told me not to use any rubbing alcohol just to soak it with water, so i did that it got infected. I continued to not use anything and went through 2 months of infection pain and had a hug puss lump forming inside at the top of the piecing, so i decided ...this is never going to get better nad took it out for about 10 hours...woke up in the middle of the night and thought "what the hell am i doing, i dont want to have to get it pierced again and i really like it" so there i am 1:00 in the morning trying to put it back in, and i got it in. I said screw what the piercer said and put rubbing alcohol on it-which was the best thing i ever did for it. it dried up the puss and gunk right away and its no completely healed and I havent quite had it done for a year. The most important adivce, you may htink its ready to change and it looks healed, but wait it out a little longer I changed mine WAY too soon if i had to do it over again i would probably wait at LEAST 3 months before i touched it.
Never use rubbing alcohol in normal circumstances though, for healing you are supposed to use sea salt.

On the pain note, I'd imagine its not bad, though it all depends on your pain threshold.
In my case, I have 10 piercings total. 4 ear lobe, 4 cartilage, and 2 in more private areas, none of which hurt at all, just felt a bit of pressure.  also, I have a tatto over my ribcage, and that didn't hurt too bad.

Always check out the parlour you use though, and make sure they use an autoclave (sanatizing device) and make sure you see them open the needle from its pouch in front of you.  Nothing is worse than an infected piercing.
Mine didn't hurt at all when it was being pierced. When the jewelry was put in it pinched only slightly. This is going to be very subjective. Some people will feel pain; others won't.

I was given some Betadine solution to take home. When that was gone I went to the sea salt/water solution. You have to clean it every day and work it back and forth so it doesn't stick. It takes about a year to FULLY heal I believe. Or maybe it's six months. They'll tell you everything you need to know though. I've had mine for about 12 years -- have never taken it out.

The anticipation and the actual day you get it done are the best parts of it. :) Don't be afraid.
listen, u will be fine...just dont look at what the piercer is doing...it will be over in a minute and u will be done.  U KNOW A BAD AND UNCLEAN PLACE WHEN U SEE IT, SO BE SMART...other than that, all u need to do is go to cvs and buy BACTINE...it is not expensive and should be applied using a q-tip 3 times a day, a minimum of 2. enjoy!
Like some of the others said, it doesn't necessarily hurt when you get it done, but it takes a long time to heal..  It's worth it, though, it makes my stomach look less fat and more interesting.

THis is going to sound really gross, but the best part of the healing process was when it would get all crusty and you could pick all the crust off.  LOL.  Gross but fun!
It hurts, course it does but it's not gonna kill you.

Take an energy bar or something with you cos you'll get a sugar-crash right after from the pain-anticipation. I didn't
get an infection and just soaked using an egg-cup of warm sea-salt water every day - I still have it, still love it!

When I got mine (about 9 years ago) it didn't hurt at all and it healed really fast too
Do you have your cartiledge pierced?  Is doesn't even hurt as badly as that.  You will feel the clamps (if the parlor you go to uses clamps,  some don't) which pinch the skin on your belly button.  The pressure from the clamps was the worst bit.  I barely even noticed when the actual piercing took place.  I went to get it with one of my good friends, though.  I was scared and wanted to chicken out, but she wouldn't let me and I am glad that she didn't!  I have had mine for two years and still love it.

I washed my piercing every time I took a shower (and once or twice more a day) with regular old Dial antibacterial soap.  I bought the liquid version in a container with a little dispenser (the push dispenser.  like comes on a lotion bottle.  I can't remember what those things are called.)  I still have about half of the bottle left.  I keep it in my shower and every once in a while, I clean out my piercing again.

Good luck with your piercing!  I am so excited for you!
well ive been wanting to get mine pierced for like a year and a half..and i finally got it done 4 days ago..i gota admit...it hurt..but then again everyones different..it mighta been coz i was real stressed i duno..but another friend of mine said it didnt hurt one bit

so its been a few days and my piercings been up and down with the healing..ive noticed when i wake up after a good long sleep theres no pain and feels nice and looks good..altho i thought yesterday a light workout wud be fine if i cleaned it after..nuh uh...it started to bleed a lil..i think it was too soon..dum of me...the piercer lady told me to use this antiseptic thing called sudex..says aftercare for piercing..so i clean piercing with warm water and 'try' removing any crust material i cant get it all out coz it jus hurts like hell..then i apply the antiseptic..my piercing is still red and stuff and a lil painful..i keep reading bout sea salt..does it really help? coz i gota get my hands on some if it does i gota get back into working out other wise my piercing will look bad [hence why i waited so long to get it done...was workin my tummy flat] lol

but other than that i love it..cant believe i finally got it done..it looks hawt
You have to realize pain threshold/tolerance will be different for everybody. I've heard some people say it hurts terribly, and others have said not at all. Mine didn't hurt, but it did pinch a little when he put the ring through. I had another part of my body pierced and GOOD LORD did that HURT like HELL. lol! Somebody might as well have shot me with an arrow.

*** Ahhh, I see this must have been an old post and I already posted up above. lol
Ah you kids. I got mine done 16 years ago, before most of you were out of diapers. It never healed right but it didn't hurt during the piercing at all. I've had a lot more painful ones
I have had mine pierced for 6 years. It did not hurt, and the healing process was quick and painless. I had no problems with it... and was told not to change it for 6 weeks. I was able to change it after 3. People say the clamp was the worst part... honestly, I didn't even feel the clamp. I don't know, everyone is different though. I guess I just have a higher pain tolerance, cause no part of the piercing bothered me.

Make sure though you clean it as much as they tell you to. It makes ALL the difference. And don't forget to research the parlors you are thinking of going to. You need to make sure to pick a clean one :)

I Got My Belly Button Pierced Like A Few Days Ago, And It Didn't Hurt At All. But This Healing Process Is A PAIN!!

But They Told Me TO Use Ivoory And All Of My Friends Say NOT To Use That, They Say To Use H2Otion.

So Keeping Mind, Soap Can Get Inside The Belly Button Hole And Is Bad To Use Cause It Can Dry Upp.

And DON'T Use Peroxide Or Alchol. They Will Irritate The Piercing.

I got my belly button pierced almost 10 years ago.  The part that hurt me the most was the clamp!  I hardly felt the needle at all...and I have a low pain tolerance : )  Like everyone else has been saying, the healing is the worst.  I also had the same problem as pandajenn did...low rise pants were not really available...so I had to roll down all of my pants, short, etc.  Back then, I was told to wash it daily with Dial soap and only Dial.  Maybe they are not using that anymore, I don't know.  It's totally worth it though - you'll love it!!
