Does South beach Phase I really help you lose abdominal fat? I exercise and do cardio at least 3 times a week, eat fairly healthy, and am pretty slim, but I can't get rid of my belly. Any suggestions?

sad fact is that the first place you gain the weight is the last place you lose it.
all I can advise is patience and perserverance.

I agree, unfortunatly you body is desighned to put it on and take it off as it pleases. You can not spot reduce. You can not just target your butt, your tummy, your hips, ect. You lose fat, it come from where the body wants. You can not do 50 situps a day and have your tummy shrink, it will probaly get bigger due to the extra muscle you are adding. But the 50 situps still burns calories, it just may take it off your thighs or chest, ect. Kinda sucks, huh?
most of the vegans and raws i have talked to comment how flat their tummy got while eating that way. but it isnt for everyone. you cant target specific areas unfortunately. but for some reason..being raw/vegan seems to work well for flattening the tummy. it does take some time though. good luck!
The only way is to eat less calories and/or exercise more. Unfortunately, your body has decided it is happy where it is. You have to push it just a bit more to get it out of its comfort zone.
Good luck!

Ok, we all know that spot toning is a fable of mythic proportions, but I have found that with my belly dancing workouts, I have been able to watch my belly shrink, something I thought would never happen. I am even watching the baby belly (almost 6 years old by the way) is shrinking. I was scared a tuck would be required, but its going away!!! maybe try some of these bellydance techniques, they are working wonders for me!
I use a pilates video targeted at the abs. It works great for building
more feminine muscles. It also helps tone your waist which greatly
enchances the look of a flat tummy.

Yup...as everyone says, you can't lose fat from a specific area. Sure you can tone the muscles beneath it...but then all you have is rockhard abs UNDERNEATH a layer of fat. You have to lower your overall body fat % if you want to lose that belly. Odds are if its the last spot on your body that's still got fat left, then it will be one of the first to go.
