37 BELOW? I can't even imagine!

Guess I'll quit whining about it being 29F tomorrow morning. You all have my sympathy.
Hope everyone's OK and stays safe and warm.
And I'll quit whining about -40 - because at least we didn't get the blizzard first.
Thanks!
Heh. I remember those days when I'd wake up, look at the thermometer, see it at 32 degrees...
...and then realize that there was a minus in front of it.
It is good that those days are behind me. :D
Hey, maybe it will warm up and start to snow! See it really is warmer when it's snowing.
Mooni - it is supposed to warm up and snow here on Friday - to a balmy 3 degrees Farenheit, although they are predicting wind chills of -10 or thereabouts.
We're supposed to get 5 inches of snow and wind chills -30's tomorrow, can't wait to fire up the snowblower...today was only -15 and 3 inches of snow, so I'll save my whining for tomorrow.
It's supposed to go down to 16 here. And while that certainly is no -30, I am in Georgia and we just don't do cold :)
I am hiking tomorrow at 7am in shorts, a running bra, and a fleece that I will probably take off by 7:30.... sorry if I gloat! I DO NOT understand how you Northerners survive!!!!! Good luck.
I have this strange sense of Midwest pride over these temps ![]()
hehe... it hit 90F here today
nice, sunny and warm. Granted it is the middle of summer, so everything is as it should be in my world
I feel your pain, really I do, thats why I left the midwest and never looked back, these days even the Sydney winters get to me and it hardly even hits the 40's here in the winter
i hear ya alle- definetely keeps out the riff raff at 40 below. ND here -i am working overnight- wonder how many times i should go out and warm up the car??? yuck
Its -41 here right now...ridiculous!

When I lived in Superior, Wisconsin, I never quite understood this pride. "We live in a miserable place and manage to survive, therefore we are proud" seems to be the sum of it.

I'm with you dnrothx! It's stupidity that keeps people living where it gets that cold. I consider myself stupid for moving further north in Ohio. Damn falling in love! If I hadn't fallen in love, I would be planning my move south or southwest about right now. I had to stay in Ohio at least until my son graduated college so I wouldn't have to pay out of state tuition. Now, I'm going to have to wait until the 8 year old graduates high school to move to warm weather.

This was extreme sarcasm folks. It was for all the idiots who are so shocked that people from a warm climate don't understand why people from a cold climate say it's warmer when it snows.
Yes idiots, it's warmer, but it's still effing freezing out!
Well, for those of us in Can-a-da, we don't have the lovely choices of our US counterparts (unless we all move to BC, but that could make things kinda crowded) and have currently 20 below (F) temps that are expected to dip (YES DIP!!) to 35 to 40 below over the next few nights. Let's don't forget the windchill factor, the weatherman says! Yippee! Could be up to 15 degrees colder than that! Yahoo! (This is sarcasm, btw.)
Ah, the joys of being restricted to the geography we are born into.

After spending a fair amount of time unfreezing my snow blower and then blowing the snow in this sub-zero insanity I came in from the ass-clenching cold. The phone was ringing so I whipped off my mad-bomber hat and answered, my frozen hair beginning to melt and trickle down my neck.
I heard my husbands voice ask if I would consider moving back to the southwest.
I hung up on him.
Thawed out.
Called him back.
Said yes.

Hey now! I will try not to take offence to that
I am happy to live where I live. I live here by my choice. I lived in Atlanta for a year and hated the lack of seasons. I like all four seasons and all that they bring. My pride comes from being able to say that and be happy in this -40 weather ![]()
I'll take the winter cold over the summer heat and humidity any day! But then again, a week in Cuba sometime around the end of March sounds pretty good...
