The Benefits of Food Porn

Food Porn is a term used for pictures of really delicious looking food.

I have been looking at a lot of this since I started my diet, because I figured that if I could not eat deep fried cupcakes, coated in chocolate sauce, topped with multi-colored sprinkles, I would at least look at it. The first couple of times, I drooled, longingly, but after a few days of receiving my Food Porn Daily (foodporndaily.com) I actually found myself becoming less hungry while looking at my food porn.

These days I can usually stave off passing hunger from dieting by pulling up some different sites. I don't know if it will work for you, but I thought I should put it out there.

Saturday and Sunday's morning are set aside for this addiction.  Channel 56-3 has six hours of straight food porn.

When I had cable the most watched channel was the Food Network.  Emerii  is the king of food porn.

That's hilarious - that's exactly what I'm doing with the thisiswhyyourefat site - I find after looking at it, it reminds me of exactly why I don't want any fried/fatty foods.  Also, www.supersizedmeals.com is good for the same purpose.  :)

LOL. I was about to post about this. I have found out that I am addicted to food porn. Looking at delicious cakes everyday.. and was wondering if this is a healthy or normal habit??

This could be trouble...

Now that I got rid of my DVR, and I don't have a backlog of TV to watch on the weekends, my TV stays on the Food Network ALL day while I do laundry and housework.  Usually doesn't make me hungry, but gives me inspiration to make my own healthy versions.

i looked at the sites the OP provided and i have to say the first one SERIOUSLY grossed me out... which i guess is helpful anyway? haha. the second one made me want cookies.

My gym has individual televisions with cable on every cardio machine.  I love watching the Food Network when I'm working out.  Also, Gourmet Magazine... the ultimate in food porn.

lol i feel so dirty...  looking at food porn while eating strawberries...  think about it...  lol

The corollary to watching food porn is that "smelling is free." There are no calories involved when sniffing bakery aromas or pizza scents. Let the olfactory sense indulge!

My friend that has anorimia watches the food network, looks at cookbooks and cooks for other people, only tasting while she's cooking and never really eating it. It helps her to curb her cravings (just like you all are doing) and also to satisfy herself that she has more control than everyone else because she is not eating it. Food Porn is not quite as extreme as the cooking for others thing, but still...its a bit creepy. My boyfriend will argue with me, but I feel like if you look at porn then there is something vital that you're missing and wishing you had...

I have some excellent "food porn" as my profile photo. I took the photo so the chocolates are, indeed, sitting right beside me. I live dangerously.

However, since they were a gift from Holland, and it is my nature to not waste such precious things, I will carefully plan each indulgence and completely enjoy the experience. And knowing I have access to such fabulous chocolate dulls any interest I have in the mini musketeers in the candy dish at work. I'm already snobbing the minis as ridiculous imitations and have lost my desire to waste my calories/sugar intake on them. The mind is a bizarre thing.
