Bernie Mac died from complications from pneumonia at age 50.

FIFTY!!!!!

How terribly sad.  He was a great performer.  I knew that I would like something if he was in it-- and just like George Carlin, the dirtier, more offensive, the better.

That is sad...it's funny when a star dies, it really makes you feel crappy cause you think they seem sooo untouchable..and you sorta feel like you know em'.

And he seemed like he would be a guy you would like in person, you know?  So yes, Penny, I agree with you.  I dont usually get bothered too much by people dying that I "dont know" but there are some that really do bother you.... and this bothers me.

It just really doesnt seem right to die of pneumonia at age 50.  Thats for when you are 90.  My parents are in their 50s.  Its young in the scheme of things.

When John Ritter died, my dad really took that hard-- they were the same age.  Come to think of it, I think that is when my dad started losing weight.

I just really dont believe the answer that he died so quickly and such.  And that he even had pneumonia after being at home with no mention of being in poor health that would lead to pneumonia.  It just doesnt track.  I mean jeeze, as I keep coming back to, he is FIFTY.

I just heard on the news that he died.  I wasn't even aware he was sick!  The last I heard about him was he was supposed to co host something soon.  I thought he might've been in the Bud Billiken Parade here in Chicago this weekend.  It really is sad that he died at such a young age.  He was a great performer and such a success story.  I know people will take it hard here.  We are very proud when one of our very own make it big.

My condolences to his family.

:(

i heard he was sick last week but they said he was going to be fine.  he was so young!  and he was and still is one of my favorites.

bummer

How sad.  I remember feeling bad about 2 celebraties deaths- one being Jimmy Stewart and the other George Carlin. I have to admit I am not that familiar with Mr Mac's work though.

RIP Bernie.

He had sarcoidoisis -- a chronic disease that often manifests itself in the lungs (which for him it did).  It can significantly affect the pulmonary health.  My husband was diagnosed with it in 1989 -- he has been losing lung capacity ever since.  He is also supposed to get a pneumonia vaccination for the very reason that Bernie Mac died.  His (Bernie's) sarcoids was supposed to be in remission, so he may not have had the pneumothorax booster.

The news article stated that the sarcoidosis had nothing to do with the pneumonia or his death.... I took that as true but maybe its not.

I had not heard that!  I do feel sad upon hearing this.

wow. that was just so unexpected. RIP Bernie.

rest in peace Bernie.... the humor will be missed!!!

This is so weird. A week ago, on the bus, someone was asking if anyone heard about Bernie Mac dying.

My thoughts go out to his family.

Ugh. My husband and I have been sad about this since we found out. His poor family! : (

I'm so upset. My heart goes out to his wife and daughter.. Rest in Peace. He will be missed.

Death has no age limit. When God calls you to come home. You have to go. :(

I always thought he was the most un-funny person on television.

That stinks though. I don't really want anyone to die, whether I like them or not

OMG!  This is the first I've heard of this!  How sad!!!!!  He was so funny!!!!!!  Life is so short.
