I'm new here
I don't care much about the BMI (it's pretty flawed imo)
What I know is that my body fat percentage is 16% and it is accumulated in the
obliques, lower back and lower abs (which is a genetic trend I can see in my father as well)
I'd like to go down to 10% at least.
Lately I have mostly lifted weight and consumed lot of calories.
I'm not sure if I'm satisfied with my lean mass but before growing more muscles I want to remove all this unhealthy and ugly fat.
So I want to focus on cutting calories and do heavy cardio.
If needed I can do cardio 6 times a week with a couple of weight training thrown in to spare muscle.
But I don't live in a place where run is an option (too many cars, too cold, too much rain) and don't like gyms.
So I thought the best option would be to do some heavy cardio at home using those programs in DVD. I have read opinions and testimonials but I'm still unsure what programs are best for my goal, what really work, what really burn calories and minimize injuries or pain and are not too boring.
I thought you advanced fitness experts migght know them all and suggest me the best ones.
Thank you
I couldn't say THE BEST...but one of my fav's is Turbo Jams...there is a whole series. They have one that's even entitled 'Fat Blaster'...although we all know nothing can just blast it off! haha But they are fairly high impact. When I first bought them I couldn't get through them> But the time flies and I really sweat!
Well, what you eat is what is really going to get you results, but after that I'd suggest Real Fast Fatloss, not a DVD and not even really 'cardio' in the traditional sense, but about as good of a fat loss workout as there is.

I plan to obtain 60% of the caloric deficit from diet and 40% from calories burned with cardio. I know you can't reduce calories much with nutrition because the metabolism slow down, so burning them with cardio seems a good solution.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
If you can, keep them coming !
I agree with Vicki about Turbo Jam, I just started it and I absolutely love it. I think I've done it a total of 5 times now (2 times devoted to the learn & burn and 3 times to the Cardio Blast). I sweat and work really hard!! They are fun and the instructor is up beat but not annoying. Good Luck!
Keep suggesting DVD's
What I like about fast loss workout on DVD's is that you can improve then switch to something else. The same workout is not going to bring results long term because the body adapts. Switching workouts is also a pleasant experience.
In fact it's nice to see exactly what your weakness is and see yourself overcoming it. For example: I checked TurboJam after it was mentioned here. It seems I would be totally uncordinated at the beginning. If after 2 weeks of TurboJam I find myself coordinated and able to do all the moves I wasn't able to do, I would have obtained a clear goal. In other words I would have something concrete telling me what I'm doing is being effective.
Let's say another hypothetical workout which, the first day, I can't complete without puffing and huffing. Let's say after 2 weeks I can do the whole workout while maintain proper form and not running out of breath, that's too a very concrete results.
But after the most intense adaptation occurs, I would simply switch to another workout; in order to get the most from the early phases in which the body needs to adapt.
I also believe, other than fat loss, I will obtain (in this way) a lot of facility in a lot of different areas like coordination, balance, flexibility or on different tasks.
I watch Cathe Friedrich's step aerobic workouts on TV, but she has those same workouts on DVD.
She also does weight training and a couple of kickboxing exercises.
Well, I could point you to some of Cathe Friedrich's DVDs that aren't terrible, or you can pick up the p90x DVDs up from eBay- or if you're in the mood to spend silly amounts of money you can always check out Crag Ballantyne's Turbulence Training. ( This sample workout plan isn't terrible but I'm betting that his overpriced plan is just more of the same.)
However; I'd just as soon you do Ross Enamait's Deck of cards workout.
Pick 2-4 exercises - burpees, jumping jacks, pushups and turkish Getups for example, take a deck of cards, and each suit is one exercise.
Draw a card, do as many reps of the exercise as the face value of the card. Draw another.
Your goal is to be able to work your way through the entire deck in one workout.
Free, fun, and hard as all get-out.

Sound interesting, thanks.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
