Best Diet in the World

Quote  |  Reply

Its called being broke as hell.  There is absolutely no eating out, and what food you have in the house has to be carefully rationed out.  See? No overeating haha.  I look forward to being on the 'super' diet for the next two weeks.  Hooray!  Anyone else joining me on this amazing journey of figuring out how to make my meagar food stores last?

It's fun to see how cheaply you can eat during a week and keep it healthy.  I've found that beans and rice are my friends, I love them with a bit of salsa and shredded cheese or tossed in a stir fry.  The key is to make your own.  Frozen veggies are also great, it makes me think twice about buying chicken breasts when they're twice as expensive as the veggies.  Eggs can be made so many different ways or added to things to jazz them up.

Haha, this all sounds much too familiar. I was lucky because my grandparents own a store that sells fresh vegetables, so I pretty much lived off salad, popcorn and toast my first 2 years of college. (and booze of course) Also good was toast in the oven with pasta sauce and cheese on it, kinda like makeshift pizza, and faster than boiling noodles for pasta. I also barely ate any meat so when I went to my parents for supper and they would be serving steaks or hamburgers I would eat half and get a stomach ache.

It was the smallest I have ever been, but I was also working out 5 days a week at the time as well, something I can only hope to get back into a regular habit of - I'm at about 3 times a week right now.

Dude... having no money for food would drive me up the wazoo... I'd probably end up eating some non-food substances like napkins or cotton just to fill me up! But it is refreshing to see someone looking at the bright-side of being broke :P Gives me a new perspective on being a poor university student

Hi Agana and everyone, I'm with you on this diet. I'm a older full time student and work 30 hrs a week and in the middle of separating from my husband as soon as I finish school.  In Jan I start student teaching and will have no money coming in only what I have tried to put aside and student loan. The stbx and I are living together until I finish school (how big of him). He gives me money for bills and food for the month so I'm trying to stretch as far as I can to save some money toward that time I'm  completely dependent on him in jan to march. I need to drop 50 lbs anyways. I found eggs fro 49cents at Aldi's the other day and salad for $0.99 and veg.soup for  0.45. I need to make myself eat what I take to work for lunch.

P.s. my college student friends, be careful of the raman(sp) noodle soup my son was living off the stuff in school and his blood pressure went sky high from the sodium.

hahahaha....lots of broke people including me around here!!!!

great to see that i'm not the only one!!!!

best of luck to ya all!
