So basically, just let me know what you believe are the best fat loss methods. I'm curious.
Also, is HIIT essential?

as Simple as this sounds.... ITS TRUE...
EAT HEALTHY FOODS IN SERVING SIZE PORTIONS!!!
You body will drop the weight naturally as you eat healthy foods. Even if exercise isnt in your plans. Just eating right will get you there. It may take longer, but it will still get you there!
I know soujds simple, yet still so difficult. I think we want to lose it so fast, and dont want to do it right. I think you will find more joy in changing the way you eat than you may realize,

I hate to be a stickler but the study sited three groups, one that dieted, one that dieted and did aerobic activity and one that dieted, did aerobic activity and also did weights.
Since there was no group that was dieting and doing weight alone, you can not rule out the effect that the aerobic activity had on that group.
Yes the diet and aerobics alone produced insignificant results but that does not mean that it did not effect the group who also did weights.
Since I dont want to argue I will leave it at that and let everyone decide for themselves but please take in to consideration the above!

sumisan I see what you're saying, but also take into account the diet plus aerobics group only lost one more pound than the diet only group so I think that can speak to its effectiveness.
why shouldn't you do weights after cardio? not trying to stir anything just really dont know why? thank you never mind i read more
No, I agree but from a scientific percpective you can't really say that for sure. But there is a whole book about not doing cardio out there, which I have not read but I am sure it's got alot of good information. Gosh I wish I was brave enough to test it because I hate cardio LOL
But I think a happy comprimise is less cardio for those who think its absolutely nessesary. :)

heatherlanders, it's not that doing weights after cardio is going to make you spontaneously combust or anything, it's just not effective at all.
The main reason is that if you're doing cardio correctly, you should be fairly tired afterwards. If you're tired, you just can't effectively do a weight routine. You just can't. I mean you can do some weights I'm sure, but you're not working your muscles as well as you need to be in order to make it effective. All your energy stores went to your cardio and that leaves precious little for your lifting. If you're not lifting at nearly full capacity, you won't build muscle like you could be.
I hope that helps.

Spirochete, thank you for posting actual facts instead of just opinion! After reading that segment of the article, I'm going to start doing more weight lifting.
You're welcome crothwell. If you guys can't tell, women's fitness is a huge stick up my @ss. I get furious/sad at what I see in Shape, on talk shows and just general misinformation. I could go into a full rant but I'll spare you all. We all take our fitness seriously and we assume we're not being fed crap but we are. Smart, educated, motivated women find the same misinformation when they are trying to do research. I used to be that woman at the gym-you all know her. Stick thin and running 6 miles like she was on fire. I've probably never been less healthy.
